She enjoys being a mom and we hear is glad to do all that comes with it, but the problem is, she is the better money maker, and coupled with her man’s mounting legal/gambling debts, it looks like she’s going to have to go back to work soon. Right on the $! Ben Affleck is a compulsive gambler (poker) and loves going to Vegas. He hasn’t worked in a while and I think that Jennifer Garner is already back working. She doing a movie called Valentine’s Day right now.
Ben has worked steadily. State of Play, He’s Not That Into You, and Extract this year alone. Two more movies for release next year, directing one of them. The only gap he had was when he was directing GONE BABY GONE.And Jennifer Garner has worked steadily as well. Two or three movies a year for her when not knocked up.
just because he’s been working steadily doesn’t mean he’s been pulling it in. also, he could be spending more than he’s making.

I totally agree with this guess. It doesn’t say he’s not working, it says “she’s the better moneymaker” and that his legal/gambling problems are forcing her back to work. Ben is a notorious gambler, and Jen does pull in more money per film.

What could the “legal debts” be referring to?
If you have legal issues (whether they be of the civil or criminal variety), you need a lawyer to represent you. And we lawyers bill by the hour. And those lawyers in big cities bill BIG bucks by the hour. Especially when you’ve got 4 or 5 different lawyers all working at the same time, and the clock is ticking. That’s what “legal debts” refers to.
I think that Elle was wondering about the specific legal situation this person might be in, not about the general term “legal debts,” which is pretty straight forward.

I agree probably either Jennifer Garner/Ben Affleck or Nicole Kidman/Keith Urban. I’m leaning toward the latter because of the capitalized “Actress.” That may be an indication either that A) she is a big important actress (as in Oscar-winning) and/or B) that she takes herself very seriously as an actress. Both would apply to Kidman more than Garner. Also note that the husband’s career is not specified. I think if it were another actor (like Affleck) it would have said so.
Keith Urban is one of the biggest acts in country right now though. He has been for a decade. he also just finished up a tour, and has a new album out this year. Nicole is probably a good mother and all, but she’s worked on a couple movies since Sunday’s birth (even though they haven’t been doing well) so the “She enjoys being a mom and we hear is glad to do all that comes with it, but the problem is, she is the better money maker” part doesn’t fit to me. I’m not saying it can’t be Keith, but I think its unlikely. He should be filthy rich.

How could it be Nicole Kidman??? Her whole life is her career, she’s been in at least one movie a year, I can’t imagine her sitting at home playing housewife, NO WAY would she ‘put her career on hold’. Ben Affleck and Jennifer sound MUCH more likely.
I’m going to throw out a new guess. Julia Roberts and Danny (forget her hubbys last name) Anyway I know he works in Hollywood. But she faded far away from the spotlight after the birth of her kids and seemed happy as a mom. Recently she is back to making movies. Just a guess!

Ben still gambles, and drinks, under the radar. That is the least of their problems.
Demi and Ashton?.. I know its a long shot. She is a mother and a wife (even if they are her children only). She has not worked since Charlies Angels that I can recall. I know he has had a few movies here and there and quite a few projects that he has produced. It does not mention in what aspect she is going back to work, but it is interesting that they are “co producing” the latest project… maybe he is a gambler and is being sued for some of the “punked” situations and or contract obligations on other projects that did not do as well as planned so she had to step in as a co producer to get the show be put into production. Possible links to Katie, Demi and Tom were at the height of their careers at the same time, both couples are tabloid favs with the age gap being similar for both marriages.

I don’t think it’s Jen Garner and Ben Affleck simply because he makes more money than she does and is much more famous. The only interesting thing Jen has EVER done is marry Ben. I’m thinking that Diane Lane and Josh Brolin might be a better fit for this blind, or Amanda Peet and David Benioff (doesn’t say that the husband is an actor, too).
