[Blind Gossip] One American actress is sending an entire foreign family into a tizzy!

This very famous and very rich foreign man is talking about proposing marriage to his girlfriend.

No, he has not purchased a ring yet. Right now he is just floating the idea to his family. The only problem? They are uniformly pushing back on his choice of a bride!

He fancies her quite a bit. Unfortunately, there is not a single member of the family who is encouraging the match!

His father is warning him that “a woman who is dramatic will be a problem.” [His brother] is telling him that he “is still young and has scads of time” to settle down.

Surprisingly, [his brother’s wife] has abstained from critiquing [the actress] directly. However, she has cautioned [her husband] that she thinks that [the actress] is “an opportunist” who “will do or say or be anything she has to” in order to make the marriage happen. She also thinks that he is “too smitten to be making good decisions right now.”

The biggest influence on everyone, though, will be [his grandmother]. She has seen how one bad apple can place the entire family and their legacy in turmoil. She is encouraging both [father] and [brother] to “discourage” his choice as “unsuitable.”

The relationship is not a long one, so it will be interesting to see if the man will give it some time before making such a life-altering (and history-altering?) decision.

Well, it looks like everyone in the British Royal Family is going to have to untizzy themselves, because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged!

Prince Harry knew that Meghan Markle was the right person for him from the first date. He started talking to his family about the possibility of proposing to her approximately a year ago (when we first published this blind item).

He had to get the whole family on board first. That took a year, culminating with a meeting between Markle and The Queen in September (see Vacation Ingratiation).

And now royal wedding bells will be ringing! From The Telegraph:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle engaged: Royal knew fiancee was ‘the one’ from ‘very first time we met’

Prince Harry has said he knew his bride-to-be Meghan Markle was “the one” from the moment they met, as the couple made their first public appearance since the announcement of their engagement.

The Prince, 33, declared that he is “thrilled” as he and the 36-year-old American actress posed for an open-air photocall in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace.

Their long-anticipated engagement was announced by the Prince of Wales on Monday morning with a statement saying the couple, who have been dating for 16 months, will marry in the spring next year.

A beaming Ms Markle, in a white belted coat, clutched Harry’s hand with both of her hands as they posed briefly and showed off her diamond engagement ring – designed by the prince himself.

Harry revealed that he knew Ms Markle was “the one” from the first moment they met. “When did I know she was the one? Very first time we met,” the prince said.

The couple were smiling and giggling throughout their appearance.

When Harry was asked how he proposed, Ms Markle replied “Save that”, with Harry adding: “That will come later”.

Kensington Palace said the prince designed Ms Markle’s engagement ring himself – using two stones which belong to his late mother.

The two outside stones are diamonds from the personal collection of Diana, Princess of Wales.

At the centre is a diamond from Botswana, a country that holds special significance for Harry who has visited many times since he was a child.

The much-anticipated news was confirmed by the Prince of Wales in a brief statement issued by Clarence House.

It read: “His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle.”

It revealed that the pair became engaged in London earlier this month.

“Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty the Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle’s parents,” the statement said.

We’ll spare you the suspense of how he proposed to her. Here’s how it went down.

They were eating a chicken dinner.

He pulled out a ring.

She exclaimed, “Winner, winner, chicken dinner!”

Something like that.

    It really depends how important family is to you. If you only see them once or twice a year – maybe not a big deal to go against their wishes. However if you see them day in and day out, it could be good to value their opinion. Unless your family just has it out for you – why would they not want to see you happy? They might see something in this person you are smitten with that in time you would also see.

    Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Dad is Prince Charles, brother is Prince William, sister-in-law is Kate Middleton, grandma is Elizabeth II. The “one bad apple” could reference either Diana or Sarah Ferguson, depending on how you look at it.

    Normally I’d say it doesn’t matter but in the royal family’s case I think it almost has to, especially for a non-Briton.

    How much weight you give your family’s opinion depends on your relationship with them. In this case, Harry and his brother, dad, y abuelos seem to be very close, so no doubt their input is important to him. They have extremely public lives as part of this ancient religious and historical tradition, and as such, what might be a minor issue in a private family would be a massive spectacle for them.     The royals aren;t all that good at marriage choices. Since the Queen, most royal marriages haven’t lasted. Charles and Di. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Princess Anne and whatshis face.

    Optional: I think that opinions do matter. Sometimes we are so in love that we don’t see the big picture and people outside of the relationship do.

    I’m not saying that you should live your life the way your parents want you to, but they do want the best for you. You should at least listen to their advice.

    AND I HAVE TO AGREE WITH KATE MIDDLETON ON THIS ONE. Meghan Markle rubs me the wrong way.

    Optional: yes. I’m very close with my family and if they didn’t like my future spouse, it might make me stop and think why that was. Of course, my family is very supportive and welcomes others into the family with open arms. So if they don’t like you, there is probably a good reason!

    Family should be given a listen, because they may see better than the one who’s smitten. But really, it has to be the decision of the person getting married.

    However, all bets are off of you’re a member of a prominent monarchy. Their bread and butter is their image, and they have to keep it together to maintain the status quo.

    Not that I think that’s right, just that this is how they view it from the inside.

    Could the “One Bad Apple” they refer to in the BI be Diana? Would be a shame to see an accident befall Harry’s GF before the nuptials can happen… The Queen would be so distraught at the anguish her grandson would endure…

    This one is easy! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Suits. They would be referring to Princess Diana regarding the drama and one bad apple comment, although that could also be Sarah Ferguson. History altering would be a member of the British Royal Family marrying someone with no royal connections, and being an actress as well.

From what it seems, she seems to be a great person, and for someone who has the reputation for being a wild child, I think it speaks volumes that he’s considering settling down with her. On the other hand, I think it is too soon for him to propose. He should give her the chance for his family to get to know her better and warm up to her and see how great of a person she is.

    Comparing her to Camilla, or whatever, is unfair. Meghan seems to have much grace and…

    Your family’s opinion won’t matter when you’re choosing, but it will be HUGE when you’re actually married. A family can make a happy marriage very difficult if they’re not accepting of your spouse.

    Yes, Kate is a commoner, but she’s very well-educated and was already accustomed to socializing with wealthy and/or influential people. Since she was marrying the future King of England, her background and ability to fit it was especially important. Even though Harry probably won’t be King, his wife will still attend official affairs with royalty and foreign dignitaries. If she has no education & no knowlege of formal protocol, it will be hard on them.

    Well she already has one failed marriage under her belt. Also, the nude scenes she’s done, which for younger people may not be a big deal, but to a 90 yr. old lady and her husband and friends, it’s absolutely scandalous. There are even modern Americans who would caution their children against marrying someone with such a short lived marriage/divorce, and people who wouldn’t want their son to marry a woman who has been nude for the world to see…so it’s really not that unusual at all.

    same here. My family pretty much likes everyone, if they didn’t like someone, that would be a huge thing for me.

    I have been married for 27 years. His family liked me and my family liked him, yet, STILL, family is such a source of conflict in the best situation. I shudder to think how things would be between a couple when there was dislike involved.

    Harry needs to cool it. Marriage should never be rushed into, PARTICULARLY when you are a Royal! He needs to get past that love haze to really see her as she is. I personally think that takes a year AT LEAST, and this is by constantly spending time together which I doubt these two do. If after he really gets to know her, then by all means, do it if he still feels it.

    Yeah, “Waity” is wise to not say anything other than to William, she would be pounced upon big time methinks!

Here’s why: MM’s social media accts (accidentally?) posted a pic of her wearing PH’s bracelet, plus pics of her with PM Trudeau at (WeDay?) saying Ms Gregoire-Trudeau Sophie ‘was missed (why not just hilite event if you’re so dedicated), pic of her with famous fam’s daughter (why give last name of child?), walking around near PH’s home with his hat, and MM was involved with public…

    As much as this could be somewhat history-altering, the “no royal connections” bit is far from new… look at Waity Katie and (more appropriately) Wallis Simpson. The British Royal Family are an anachronism in the modern era. Kate’s words are rich, seeing as though she is a commoner with no royal connections, has never had a job, and is the ultimate opportunist!

    That being said… still hoping for Ms. Davy

    Agree, and in Harry’s family it’s down to his gran or as the world knows her…QE2. She’s only been in power since Churchill, in the public eye since childhood and met most world leaders. You don’t stay in power and keep your name relevant for decades by luck. Tough sell indeed.

    I hear what you’re saying, but she isn’t one of them. She’s not British. She lives a completely different life than what they do. She’s not modest -she’s been in various states of undress. That may be okay for average families, but this is not an average family. They hold candidates to a higher standard. Modest in dress and actions.

    1) She’s not British, or even from the commonwealth
    2) She’s done nude scenes. Remember the Royal’s reaction to paps catching Kate topless at a private resort with Wills? They really don’t want a duchess’ lady bits out there for the public to see
    3) They don’t seem to have much fondness for actresses.
    4) The Queen has no love for tabloid fodder after the Diana years. Marrying an actress would throw them right back in that fire.

    Meghan was educated in a privata, only-girls, school in Los Angeles, graduated in with a double major in theatre and international relations from Northwestern University, worked at the US embassy in Argentina and has been an avocate for women rights at the UN, yet people act like she’s just a dumb actress who doesn’t have a clue about how to deal socializing with wealthy and/or influential people.
