Who told you about this power struggle over a month ago? Blind Gossip did!

Now RadarOnline is acknowledging the fight:

Whoopi Goldberg & New Host Rosie O’Donnell At War –

Tension On ‘The View,’ Fighting Over Seating Arrangements

whoopie rosieWith only a few weeks until The View premieres with Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that on the set, the two divas are already at a stand-off over who will get the moderator seat.

Goldberg has sat in the prized moderator seat since taking over from O’Donnell, and now “Rosie wants it back from Whoopi,” an insider told Radar. “It doesn’t matter to Rosie that Whoopi has sat there for the last several years. Rosie doesn’t want to be sitting anywhere but back in her old spot.”

“In Rosie’s mind, this is once again her show,” the source continued. “Whoopi won’t be giving it up, and Rosie even suggested they trade seats every other week. It’s all a power trip for Rosie, which is resulting in tension on the staff.”

The odd thing is that the bored and completely disdainful Whoopi doesn’t even want to be there anymore and is now complaining that she wants to leave the show… just weeks after signing a long-term contract to stay on the show. Hello? If you don’t like the job and don’t want the job, don’t sign a long-term contract for the job, you old grumpy!

Congratulations to Brushfire97 for being first with the correct answer!

In an ironic twist, after six months of power struggles and poor ratings, Rosie O’Donnell is leaving The View, and Whoopi Goldberg is staying.

ABC execs had planned to give Whoopi The Grump the boot by buying out her contract (which we have been saying all along was the smart move) but O’Donnell tendered her resignation, citing personal reasons, and now Whoopi is staying. What a mess.

Whoopi Goldberg owes Rosie O’Donnell a lot more than a goodbye hug. RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that she can thank her for saving her job! Insiders tell Radar that Goldberg was set to get the axe before O’Donnell decided to leave, and now ABC honchos are “livid” that their plans have been botched.

According to an insider, Goldberg’s job was in jeopardy in recent weeks following months of bitter back and forth feuding with her co-stars.

After an ultimatum by ABC network bigwigs to play nice or get cut had no effect, “They were originally going to fire Whoopi,” a source told Radar.

“They expected Rosie and Whoopi to fix their issues, but it wasn’t working,” the source explained. “The show was barely stabilizing in the ratings so they decided to buy Whoopi out of her contract. They were going to do it after Rosie Perez came back from play rehearsals for a few weeks.”

Ironically, despite O’Donnell’s secret divorce drama ABC wanted her to take over the reigns of the ratings-challenged show.

“They were going to give the show to Rosie O’Donnell, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace,” added the source. “But Rosie’s divorce saved Whoopi’s job!”
