BG12345: Monday

michael sam 1Good Morning, Blinders!

How about a little coffee and cake this morning? Michael Sam celebrated his being drafted by the St. Louis Rams by smashing lips and smashing cake with his boyfriend.

It’s interesting to us how outraged some people were by this.

Were you outraged? Nonplussed? Unconcerned?

We wonder if they would be equally outraged if they knew that some of their favorite male celebrities are kissing each other behind closed doors.

We have a BG12345 for you today. Enjoy!

Love, Ace

This was a beautiful moment. A wonderful moment. Good for them.

AGREED! Love is love. As long as he’s good at his job who cares? Plus all the straight male athletes in various sports use/ parade their WAGS in public (and most WAGS love it) so why should the ones who HAPPEN to be gay have to hide their SOs at moments like that?

If he was straight (or in the closet) and this was his hot GF/ wife (or beard) it would be a non issue. And with sports like the LPGA/ PGA if you add a kid in the picture – ANY kid even a niece/ nephew – for publicity shots it’s applauded not just rewarded. SIGH. It’s a process and the brave ones out front will take the initial hits for those who come after.

      ALSO AGREED! +1,000

” We wonder if they would be equally outraged if they knew that some of their favorite male celebrities are kissing each other behind closed doors.” I think you meant” closeted” doors, Ace? Anyway, i wish all the best to Michael Sam,he deserve to be judged for what he does on the filds, not outside of that, and i read some HORRIBLE things sent to other out gay atletes.

  • Brittttt

    Good for them!

  • TruthBeTold

I thought it was very cute, nothing wrong with two guys showing their love for each othe

  • whitney19

I think it’s great! Good for them!

  • catty84

Proud to be a St. Louisan, proud to be a Rams fan. Excited to see Michael Sam prove all the assholes wrong!

  • PIncorrect

No…because what they do BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is their business. Public is PUBLIC.

  • FunnyFace

Such an authentic, beautiful moment between two people who love each other. Bravo!

  • Markme

Love the two guys together. Love is always grand but it sounds like we could have an “OH OH !” Blind gossip day today?

  • loveandliz19

Good for him. I wish him the best !

  • Andreinac13

It was a cute gesture. I’d do the same thing in the same situation.

  • missmissy

No one seemed plussed by the partying of Johnny Manziel (and he’s a jerk). Good for Michael Sam. A nice guy and a fun way to celebrate.

  • LeahLynn28

To be honest,i’ve never heard of Michael Sam before, but if he and his boyfriend are happy and want to kiss each other, people should leave them alone and stop judging them.If they are adults, happy and proud of what and who they are, good for them.

Good Morning Ace, BG Crew & Fellow Blinders!!!

Apparently Sam’s jersey is in high demand so it looks as though he’s got a lot of fans & supporters.

I was outraged. HOW DARE HE WASTE PERFECTLY GOOD CAKE!!!

I agree with Vagabondage, it was a beautiful & wonderful moment.

  • brum

Would it bother you if a man and women shared this moment similarly? It shouldn’t, unless you’re against cake in the face.

  • Mia444

I thought it was sweet. I hate football though and wish it didn’t occupy such a huge space in our culture. ;-)

  • ThinkerBelle

I was surprised that he was drafted so late but I’m going by what I hear so maybe he wasn’t as good as I heard.
Their PDA didn’t bother me at all.
Now, if I were his boyfriend and he shoved cake in my face, different story. I don’t think it’s cute at weddings or any other time or place. Why so rough with cake? What’s cake ever done to anyone? It’s a warm, sweet hug for your insides.
    Good luck to them both!

  • CindyB

Unfortunately, I thought was MS did was courageous. Why do I say “unfortunately”? Well, in this day and age, two men kissing in public shouldn’t have to take courage. When I kiss my husband in public, I am not courageous. I’m just being me; but, I don’t have to worry about people staring, sneering, laughing, and/or saying derogatory remarks.

I wish Mr. Sam nothing but the best of wishes and a long, successful career. I also look forward to the day the GLBT community is treated with the same respect that heterosexuals receive (although many of us heterosexuals do not deserve it).

  • Okayeah

I’m always happy to see people happy with the people they love. Couldn’t care less about gender. :)

  • Naija_girl

    I think it’s cute.

Now get us some dirt on the Solange/Jay-Z kickboxing match!! I bet that’s not the first time it’s happened. Which is why Beyonce just stood their like “Whatever…”.

  • True007

I didn’t look at it as two men kissing each other. Just a couple celebrating.
Good luck to him and the team this season.

  • theprofessor

Ace, I really hope one of your blinds today explains what happened between Solange and Jay z in the elevator after the Met Gala! I just saw the footage of it and it looks like a pretty intense argument!

  • oldstephens

No big deal. A non-story. People kiss all the time. Who cares?

    • jacksonian

It is a big deal because of the people pushing the LGBT agenda …. They are obsessed with pushing it in the news media …they are obsessed with teaching it to our kids in school ….they are obsessed with it in the liberal/ progressive/ democrat party …..they are obsessed with pushing it in tv and movies ……they are obsessed with promoting it in the music industry …. They are obsessed with demonizing anyone who says that they believe homosexuality isn’t “natural” ….. They are obsessed with ruining the careers of anyone who disagrees with them ….

  • phoenix

Won’t someone think of the children?!??! They’re gonna grow up thinking it’s acceptable to waste perfectly good cake!!!

  • robirob052

It was a great moment and part of a great gay weekend (with Conchita Wurst winning the Eurovision Song Contest).

  • brum

I love that no one even comments on inter racial couples anymore. How far we’ve come since the 70’s!

  • PapillonLover

Frankly, I’m more interested in what he will do on the field and not what he does in his private life!!

  • rudy

The video was sweet, touching, overwhelming and so real. When michael cried, I lost it too.

I love this guy. The courage and honesty and strength he shows to the world by just being WHO HE IS, is a lesson to all those IN HOLLYWOOD HIDING IN YOUR CLOSET.

Be who you are, don’t let the world dictate your life.

  • slantrhyme

To a lot of young people who walk down the hallways of schools every day seeing heterosexual PDAs and feeling as if they are somehow “defective” for being gay, this IS a big deal. Young male athletes especially.

Kudos to ESPN for airing this!

  • GingerNaps

lovely moment, and this football dude has guts — what a powerful decision he’s made to be open and proud — love it!

  • CapnZebbie

I thought it was very sweet, and I’m so happy he got drafted!

  • HermioneG

Sam’s reaction video made me super emotional haha. As a gay woman I know what it is to have that kind of pressure and hopes.
The kissing pic is so freaking cute, I love it!
And although I am not american, I realize the importance of it all. I am grateful for people like him. Whether they’re actors, singers, comedians, athletes, business moguls… when they show kids that it indeed “get better” and that they do have a future if they don’t think about taking their lives, I have the utmost respect for them. Kids and adults alike need to see that gay people are everywhere, having regular lives and being happy despite all the hate thrown their way. I’m grateful for people coming out in support too, allies are just as important.
I’m still not over that suicide wave of (presumed or real) gay kids that led to It Gets better, and they’re still too many to still think they’re worthless and better off dead.

I hope that people like Sam, Collins, Page and others will help make this world a slightly better place.

  • winona

Loved it! They are adorable. :)

  • Palermo

UGH. I HATE when people smash cake into someone’s face. As for the kissing, don’t care about that one iota.

  • YoGo8c

Nice, messy, human moment. No more, no less.

Hopefully some cake left over for one or two boybanders and a glut of currently closeted actors and actressess – cometh the day.

Unless all these people have suddenly turned straight overnight….
