The teams behind the four young stars are now exchanging phone calls trying to figure out if they can pull this off from both a logistical and contractual perspective. If approved, every time these two couples go out together, expect absolute bedlam among paparazzi and fans… and the internet to explode! If nothing else, it would certainly provide excellent material for all four kids once the contracts expire.

After Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber broke up last year, Selena’s BFF, Taylor “Because we need the f*cking publicity, that’s why!” Swift wanted some company on her faux dates with Harry Styles. So Taylor and Selena hatched a plan for Selena to date Harry’s One Direction bandmate Niall Horan.
Could you imagine the paparazzi bedlam if four of the the biggest young stars on the planet went out on regular double dates together? Not to mention the blind item songs all four of them could put out about their time together after they all broke up!
Although the publicists got together and tried to make this publicity dream happen, Niall begged off the arrangement. From Now Magazine:

Selena Gomez may have sparked rumours of a reunion with Justin Bieber after she flew to Norway on 18 April and later was snapped getting cosy with him.
But Now can reveal she only did so after she tried to go on a date with his One Direction pal Niall Horan – and the Irish singer turned her down.
Selena, 20, was given Niall’s number by Harry Styles’ ex Taylor Swift, who felt they could double date after she briefly split with Justin, 19, in November.
But Niall, 19, decided it’d be inappropriate to meet up with his mate’s ex.
Our insider reveals: ‘Not only are they friends, but Niall’s keen to avoid any trouble with Justin.
‘He knows dating Selena could’ve prompted a war with Justin.’
Selena now seems to have got the message that Niall isn’t interested – especially as he’s being linked to Irish model Zoe Whelan.
The 18-year-old, who shares a strong likeness to Selena, recently attended the wedding of Niall’s older brother Greg.
Since then Selena’s taken an interest in her ex again.
Hmm.
Coincidence or not?
So, Taylor and Harry went back to their sad little arrangement, and Selena went on to date King Kevi or Ryan Seacrest or whoever until she started jonesing for another Bieber publicity fix.

Okay, but Selena/Justin was a PR relationship, and so was Niall/Demi (and that never got off the ground even though it was supposed to, I think because of Demi’s drug problems.) Selena and Justin are more into doing the PR thing though, so it DOES make sense for him to stay out of that.
yeah, he wasinterested in demi but he turned down that too. I think he just wants to be single while being on tour.

Niall is smart…not because of he’s Justin’s friend,but because he avoided another PR stunt planned by those media-wh*res.Selena and Taylor are pathetic.They planned this behind Justin’s back,what i really thought that wouldn’t be possible.Now i hope Justin’s bad/weak PR team reads that and tells him to open his eyes,that if the drugs didn’t kill his brain cells already…if Selena did this behind his back once,she can do it again.That’s why they will never be a real couple,no matter what they do or post in the internet…fake relationships for publicity don’t work and are lame.

Harry Styles and Niall Horan kill me! It’s not as if 1D need and publicity – they’re everywhere! Definitely think Taylor and Selena did for the that though which in turn makes me think that Harry was persuaded because of other reasons ie he is gay and they are desperate to cover it up. Why they feel that kids these days would not accept this is very short sighted of management. My daughter is 14 years old and has recently told me that two of her friends are openly bisexual and one is openly gay. I really feel that most kids wouldn’t worry that much.

I’m sure these closet gays will be showered with multiple GLAAD awards when they come out, but i have very little respect for them because of these bearding relationships. they are utter cowards.
No hate or anything, but it would be a very hard for them to come out at this stage in their careers. Not to mention all of the hate they are sure to receive. The beards are just used as a cover up, so that the public wont suspect anything.

This is an extremely homophobic and disrespectful comment. If the world weren’t so homophobic, they wouldn’t NEED to have beards. You are basically blaming gay people for societal homophobia. That’s NOT OKAY.
Oh and while we’re at it, many of the members of 1D would like to come out, or would at least like to stop having to do all the PR relationships to make them look straight, but their management is forcing them to. They don’t have much choice in the matter – they are under contract.
The reason why Niall was able to refuse this and Harry wasn’t is because management doesn’t care that much about Niall – he doesn’t have the gay rumors the other four have, and his image is that of “chill, single dude” -so if management wants him to do a PR thing and he doesn’t, he has a bit more leverage to say no. I don’t know how you can look at how Harry (or Louis for that matter) acted during Haylor and think that Haylor was something Harry wanted to do. It wasn’t. He was forced to do it and hated it every step of the way, and I applaud him for resisting it as best he could, even though he was still under contract to do it.
It complicated but the worse part is that fans are bullied for believing what their eyes and mind are telling them versus what they are told by PR.
Exactly. I don’t give a damn about their contract—the bottom line is they are of age young men and have ultimate control over their lives regardless of anything they signed—-would there be consequences—of course. But basically it boils down to what’s most important to them and I would have a hard time believing that the other boys would be pissed at them—they’d probably encourage it. This is 2013–yes some fans and wingnuts were turn away from them but I believe they would get a heck of a lot more of fans because of their honesty.

It’s a shame Harry didn’t have the kahunas to say ‘no’ at the time. He/Taylor Swift/the world could have been spared a lot of embarrassment/misery. I think it’s really immoral to force people into PR stunts. It’s better to be true to yourself, even if the fans don’t all like it, than to lie to them just to score points.

Yes there are huge short term monetary gains to participating in the PR stunts and maintaining the PR images but their situation is unique.
It’s not just that a boybander might be gay and it’s being covered up.

Well I didn’t say I thought the bearding was because Harry and Louis are ‘together’. I believe they are gay/bi but don’t think they are a couple (in the traditional sense). Industry buzz points elsewhere. Whatever/whoever they are/not with, I think the question is more WHY do those stunts, are they forced into it or actively agree to it? Or both?
I do know contracts are very rigid and there are lots of clauses written into them. That’s probably obvious here!

I have suspected that this was going to happen for a long time, I’m just glad it wasn’t a success. I doubt the Niall and Zoe rumors and am glad he did not follow through on the plan of putting him with Selena.
