Male Singer Will Be Coming Out

[Bossip] There’s been plenty of speculation about this hot young r&b star’s sexuality, but most of it has been drowned out by the adoration by fans and famous alike. After keeping folks guessing in 2011, this soul singer will answer any questions about which team he’s sw*nging for with his upcoming musical release.

Sorry, but the only other hint we can give is he had at least one big rap collabo last year.

Any guesses?

It’s Frank Ocean! Source:

Frank Ocean is a 24-year-old singer. You may know him from the song Novacane or his appearance on Watch The Throne, the collaborative album from Jay Z and Kanye West. He is the opening act for Coldplay’s summer tour.

The confession marks a groundbreaking moment in the hip hop world, as Ocean is one of the first artists to come out about his sexuality.

From the original source of the blind,

A month ago we posted a blind item about a R&B star coming out the closet on their latest album.

After keeping folks guessing in 2011, this soul singer will answer any questions about which team he’s swinging for with his upcoming musical release. Well, newcomer Frank Ocean might be putting the speculation to rest.

Today saw the Ocean’s LP “Channel Orange” received its London press playback, and oh did it serve up more than expected. See what we mean via Max/BBC 1 Xtra‘s preview below…

“Frank has also opened up about his sexuality on the album, we think it’s brave and admire him for being so honest and sharing such a personal aspect of his life through his music. On the songs ‘Bad Religion’ ‘Pink Matter and ‘Forrest Gump’ you can hear him sing about being in love and their are quite obvious words used like ‘him’ and not ‘her’.

In the world we live in now we can’t see this being an issue or why it should be?? But we do commend him for not continuing a facade and conforming to what a Hip Hop so called rule book expects, we say live your life and be yourself.”

First Anderson Cooper now Frank Ocean? Will you be supporting Frank Ocean or do you think his sexuality will negatively impact his career?

*UPDATE* Frank Ocean took to his Tumblr account last night to open up about his sexuality. Hit the flip to peep what he has to say….

“Whoever you are, wherever you are … I’m starting to think we’re a lot alike. Human beings spinning on blackness,” he begins. “In the last year or 3 I’ve screamed at my creator. Screamed at clouds in the sky. For some explanation. Mercy maybe.”

Ocean relates a story of meeting a boy four summers ago, at age 19. As he grew closer to his new friend, Ocean reveals he began to have feelings for him, often sleeping alongside him.

“By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless. There was no escaping, no negotiating with the feeling. No choice. It was my first love, it changed my life.”

Ocean continues, explaining how the experience made him think back on his old girlfriends and realize that the “sentimental songs” he tied to those memories felt strange.

“I realized they were written in a language I did not yet speak. I realized too much too quickly.” Despite admitting his feelings to his companion, his friend wouldn’t tell him the same. “He wouldn’t tell me the truth about his feelings for me for another 3 years, I kept up a peculiar friendship with him because I couldn’t imagine keeping up my life without him.”

Ocean leaves the fate of his relationship unclear and indicates that although the situation has worn on him over the years, he is thankful for it.

“I was never alone, as much as I felt like it … To my first love, I’m grateful for you. Grateful that even though it wasn’t what I hoped for and even though it was never enough, it was. Some things never are … and we were.” Ocean wraps up the post by saying thanks and keeping positive in moving forward. “So thank you. All of you. For everything good. I feel like a free man. If I listen closely … I can hear the sky falling too.”

On this Independence Day, Frank Ocean truly feels like a free man.

Russell Simmons wrote a statement of support for Ocean on his website Global Grind, lauding the up-and-coming talent for his bravery.

“Today is a big day for hip-hop. It is a day that will define who we really are. How compassionate will we be? How loving can we be? How inclusive are we?” he wrote.

“I am profoundly moved by the courage and honesty of Frank Ocean. Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear. These types of secrets should not matter anymore.

“His gifts are undeniable. His talent, enormous. His bravery, incredible. … Frank, we thank you. We support you. We love you.”

Frank Ocean’s debut album Channel Orange is set to drop July 17.

Nobody guessed this one right, although it sounds like an awful lot of you think that Drake, NeYo, Bruno Mars, Maxwell, Trey Songsz, Miguel, and Usher are due to come out of the closet.
