Sitcom Stars Play Party Games

grownup-partyCDAN – At the time this happened a few years ago, all of the people involved were on a very funny network show that was not quite a big hit. It tried, and had an audience but it only lasted a few years. Not quite enough episodes for syndication.

Well one of the leads in the show had a party at his house. He is a C list actor, although at the time he was probably B because of a relationship he was in. He has really made his name based on two television shows and a relationship. I don’t think he has ever done a movie.

So, the lead had a party at his house and I got dragged there by a friend of mine. One of the things that I noticed right away was that while most of the parties I had been to involved drinking games, this group of people had coke games. Instead of quarters they played games like fastest to do three lines. Yeah, good times. To be fair, sometimes they would mix things up and include doing a shot and then three lines. If you were last, you had to get up from the table and had to let someone else sit there.

Anyway, the absolute clear winner in all of this was a woman who is, honestly a D list actress now and was probably a C list actress then, despite being one of the leads on the show. She just could not be beat. If there were a table of six she would beat them all every time, and would keep beating them repeatedly. Plus she showed no signs of it affecting her. It also seemed like she had no friends there and this was her one way of connecting with the group. She is actually on a series now as a regular, but it is her first regular job since the other show went off the air.

The clear loser almost every time was probably the best known actor of the bunch. He will probably be a permanent B lister based on a few key roles (both television and film) in his career. He was older than the rest of the cast, but they loved him. Mainly because he always lost so they got to keep playing, but also from what I understand he paid for the entire amount. It was a ton.

There were about 30 people at this party, but to the six or seven people sitting at the table all they could think of was to keep playing that game. They didn’t notice anyone or anything beyond that game. The rest of the attendees at the house were laughing and drinking or not drinking and having a great time. The people at the table just seemed to only care about the next round of the game.

Hmmm, I’m guessing cast of Life with Bonnie.

Wowwww. I wanna say Arrested Development, but I pray not!

  • Tee

The kids from that 70′s Show…
This one is so easy. Wilmer Whatever went out with Blohan..of course making him more known, and a user. Ashton paid for it and Mila Kunis (a regular player on the Family Guy as MEG) woofed it down.
    Next.

  • sssssssssssss

arrested development is a good guess!!!!

maybe notes from the underbelly cancelled after 2 seasons in 2006

That 70s Show is in syndication: reruns are on tv all the time. The magic number for syndication is 100 episodes… T7S had 201 episodes.

My guess is News Radio. Dave Foley is the lead, Maura Tierney was the vaccuum, and Stephen Root paid for it.

  • Kathy Griffith

    Suddenly Susan?
    Caroline in the City?
NewsRadio, sounds likely… although you’d think Andy Dick or Phil Hartman’s wife would win…
    2 Guys a Girl & A Pizza Place
    Less Than Perfect

i dont mean to be a hater because i dont have a guess but seriously do some of you guys even read it before you guess! News radio was in syndication for a long time. Id always be watching that s* at 7 in the morning right before wings re runs. Im guessing something involving charlie sheen though.

portia di rossi did look like a coked out freak not that long ago– she was on arrested development right?

  • RoSull

First show that popped into my mind was arrested developement. I read it again and I still feel very strongly that it was the cast of arressted developement. Boo hoo, I love that show!

If it is AD, who would the cast be out of the characters mentioned? Like, to host, and the woman, and the older guy. I can see the older guy being jeffrey tambor, but the rest don’t seem to fit

I also thought Arrested Development, but it doesn’t really fit very well. I tried to rewrite the entire BI:

Arrested Development was a very funny network show that was not quite a big hit. It only lasted 3 years. Not quite enough episodes (53) for syndication.

Will Arnett, one of the leads in the show, had a party at his house. He is a C list actor, although at the time he was probably B because of a relationship he was in (Amy Poehler, still married). He has really made his name based on two television shows and a relationship. (But does that really apply to him or anyone in that show?) I don’t think he has ever done a movie. (Blades of Glory is the only minimally notable movie in his CV, just voice in Ratatouille. Jason Bateman was in Juno and Hancock, and David Cross did a few movies.)

So, the lead had a party at his house and this group of people had coke games, they played games like fastest to do three lines.

The absolute clear winner in all of this was Jessica Walter, who is honestly a D list actress now (I disagree) and was probably a C list actress then, despite being one of the leads on the show. She just could not be beat. Considerably older than everyone else, it seemed like she had no friends there and this was her one way of connecting with the group. She is actually on a series now (90210) as a regular, but it is her first regular job since the other show went off the air. (Portia de Rossi was a regular in Nip and Tuck before her current job, so she’s ruled out. Alia Shawkat is unlikely, she was too young then.)

The clear loser almost every time was Henry Winkler from “Happy Days”, probably the best known actor of the bunch (that’s for sure!). He will probably be a permanent B lister based on a few key roles in his career. He was older than the rest of the cast, but they loved him. Mainly because he always lost so they got to keep playing, but also from what I understand he paid for the entire amount. (But Jeffrey Tambor also fits here)

It fits with a sledgehammer, not really that well.

    • Jane Doe

Will Arnett was also in Let’s go to Prison and other goofy movies. But I seriously doubt this one applies to the AD cast. Also, his relationship with amy p hardly played a role in boosting his career. They both got a name for themselves for their separate comedic talents.

  • Who, me?

I’m thinking maybe it was the cast from “Titus”.
It only lasted three seasons. Christopher Titus starred in “Titus” and “Big Shots”. The relationship is referring to his mom who was crazy and killed her last husband.
The female lead, Cynthis Watros, now plays on “Lost”.
And the best known actor of the bunch who was much older…Stacy Keach.

    But, hey. Who knows?

  • Yan

    my guess… Pushing Daisies

    • nycmom10024

First sentence says a few years ago rules out Pushing Daisy’s. Titus did not enough episodes, so that could fit.
Caroline in the City had enough episodes but minimal station interest.

  • myguess

    Studio 60 ?? Matt Perry ?

  • Gabriela

I may be going on a limb here, but could it be a TBS show? The network’s slogan is “Very Funny”.

  • Jen M

Does this party even have relevance today?? If this happened years ago why does it matter today?? Everyone in Hollyweird does coke anyway

  • In L.A.

Hey, Hey, Hey CDAN – This blind item is waaaay to long and windy…

  • guess...

The cast of the Golden Girls!
