[BlindGossip] There was a lot of fuss made over many of the celebrities at the service for Whitney Houston. However, there were two big celebs in attendance who went relatively unnoticed. One is a pop diva and the other is her former sister-in-law, who is also a singer. Both have famous last names. The latter flew in just for the service and the two sat together towards the back of the church. They didn’t sing any songs or make any speeches or demand any kind of attention. They simply paid their respects and quietly exited once the service was over.
My shot-in-the-dark guess is Janet Jackson and Bunny DeBarge.

yes, she sings. She has 2 albums out and a third coming out this year. She was married to Michael Jackson from 94-96 making her Janet’s sister in law at one time.

Lisa Marie is not in the UK at the moment, she was likely in Los Angeles and flew in to Jersey for the service, if this is indeed Janet and Lisa.

My guess would be Janet Jackson and Bunny DeBarge. Bunny is the sister of James DeBarge, to whom Janet was married in 1984-85. She is also a member of DeBarge, which is pretty well-known. And, you know, Janet Jackson is also well-known in her own right

But Mariah Carey was there and didn’t draw attention to herself. I was watching the funeral on Saturday and I had no idea she was there, until ONE picture surfaced of her sitting next to LA Reid. She was wearing a pony tail, had very little make-up on and looked very low-key.
I don’t know why….but I just had to defend her.
She was interviewed about it afterwards, though. I like the Janet Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley guess.

I’m going to say Janet Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley. Last names don’t get more famous than this, I don’t think. I have no idea whether they were there but I’m hoping I’m right.
As for my previous guess about Mariah, let me just say that even though she is not the diva referred to in this post, I’m still impressed that she toned things down for her attendance to the funeral.

So the two former sister in laws we are looking for have famous last names, which suggest we can exclude artists like Madonna, Cher, etc.
The singer flew in, which suggest the Pop diva already was in the NY/NJ area, either because she loves here, is based here or had some other business here.
And it has to be a famous last name. Among the Pop Divas, names like Ross (Diana), Summer (Donna), Carey (Mariah), may not work for that, as I am not sure how famous the last name would be without the first name with it.
Streisand on the other hand or Midler, maybe…Barbra was born in Brooklyn, and Bette Midler in Patterson, NJ so the NY/NJ connection would fit, but I can’t find a sister-in-law. So…no.
Other famous names: Jackson. Could it be Janet Jackson as the Pop Diva? Certainly a famous name.
She does have a former sister-in-law with a famous name Lisa Marie Presley who is a singer (given not a great one, but the text only says famous last name). So LM Presley could have flown in.

My first thought was Aretha Franklin, although I don’t know who her former sister-in-law is. She was supposed to be there and perform but cancelled due to illness but I believe she did sing elsewhere later that day. So maybe the illness was an excuse to remove herself from the spotlight and to be able to be there and say goodbye to Whitney in her own way.

We knew Mariah was there, she sat next to LA Reid and was on TV, there’s pictures of her and she also went out to that dinner afterwards which there are also pictures of. Aside from the fact it was public knowledge Mariah was there, the pictures of her there and her many statements, sitting next to LA Reid in the middle of the church isn’t going to allow you to go unnoticed lol I’m guessing Janet Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley.

My guess is Lisa Marie Presley & Janet Jackson. Very classy of them! I was shopping once in NYC at an upscale department store and Lisa was there. She didn’t do anything to cause a fuss. She minded her own business and looked like any other girl on their lunch break looking at clothes. We were looking at clothes on the same rack when I recognized her.
