[NationalEnquirer] Which popular singing duo has decided to no longer appear on their gay pal’s talk show in order to appease their religious fans? The entertainers were flooded with hate mail from their goody-two-shoes followers who clearly don’t approve of the TV personality’s sexual preference.

Can’t think of a religious duo other than the Osmonds, but the talk show is definitely Ellen.
Can any duo other than Donnie and Marie have fans that would really “[flood] with hate mail”? Ack, I hope this one is revealed, because it is disgusting. Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres or Rosie O’Donnell, it doesn’t really matter, though, because this makes me angry no matter who the TV personality is.
I am also thrown by the photo chosen to accompany this, since that is generally a clue.

Hmmm, there’s not much popular singing duos who appear on Ellen (I’m assuming it’s Ellen’s show, unless it’s Anderson). She and Him perhaps? They did recently appear on Ellen to promote their Christmas album and it was apparently a hot seller on Amazon…
I don’t think it’s She and Him. Their fan base is more hipster/indie, not the kind of people who would write hate mail for appearing on a show with a gay host.
A huge portion of Zoe’s fans are very gay so this is completely unlikely.

I think the Osmonds have more goody goody followers and Rosie has always seemed more controversial and disliked than Ellen. Ellen is so likeable that I think many homophobic people can't help liking her (even if they don't approve of her sexual preference).

I will say Donny and Marie and Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. Marie has been on and often Tweets with Andy…not sure if Donny has ever appeared on the show.
I think it’s Donny and Marie and Rosie as the host. I believe the Judd’s would NEVER approve of such judgement on people and most people are in acceptance/denial of Ellen because she is eye appealing, funny and not so in your face. I like Rosie, but she’s pretty pretty harsh on the oppions and the eyes! I think most people are unaccepting of her. I’m just saying… lol
Marie Osmond has a gay daughter whom she supports, so I really don’t think this is them. They seem too cool for this, and have too mixed of a fanbase for this to hinder them at this point.
Thus, I think it’s a newer group, with country roots. That’s why I’m voting for Sugarland. It’s a shame.

Yeah, but disapproving of his lifestyle doesn’t necessarily transfer to boycotting a talk show because the host has the same lifestyle. I would hope she would be more empathetic than that, considering she also has a gay daughter.

I agree. The Osmonds have been in show biz forever, have been all over TV, and why would they do such a dumb turnaround NOW? Is there a groundswell of bigoted Mormons pressuring them all of a sudden? (AND – Are Donnie and Marie considered POPULAR? )

I have no idea about the singing duo, but I thought of Andy Cohen immediately for the host.
I think the fact that the Osmunds are friends with Rosie fits the blind. I think its the Osmunds and their much more conservative background than Country music.
I am a country music fan and I would be more upset (as would my friends) if it is Sugarland that they wouldn’t go on a show becuase the host is gay than the fact that they did (that would NEVER cross my mind to be upset about) I love Ellen!
Not Graham Norton or Alan Carr because I don’t think American uber-religious types know them, and I don’t think religious fanaticism is quite as rampant in the UK/IRE as it is in the States.
I’d get behind Sugarland on Ellen. Everyone’s pointed out that Marie has a lesbian daughter, and Sugarland is relatively emerging and would thus be hesitant to Yuletide a growing fan base
