Leading Man Is Too Lazy To Buy Gifts

[NationalEnquirer] Which Hollywood leading man pays a personal shopper $1,500 a day to buy his holiday gifts while he stays home watching reality TV and smoking weed? The in-demand funnyman – whose public battle with depression once made headlines – avoids the TinselTown glitter while he makes one hit film after another.

Owen Wilson? He famously battled depression in 2007. Up for a Golden Globe for Midnight In Paris.

  2. stolidog says

owen wilson. can’t blame him for the personal shopper or the weed, but it’s inexcusable that he watches reality tv.

    • Mermaid says

Not to be a buzzkill (LOL), but weed is terrible for people with depression or any other mental illness. It just exacerbates it and it’s known to be an environmental trigger for Schizophrenia in people who are at risk for the disease.

I feel bad for Owen Wilson, if this is him and I think it is. He does not seem happy at all. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE his performance in every single movie he’s been in. Wonderful actor/comedian.

      • combatbaby says

way too much of a generalization, Mermaid. It affects different people differently. Best treatment I’ve found for my GAD.

      • Stackhouse says

Exactly. Like and scientific article stated, cannabis hurts some, helps others. It can kill or rescue neurons – children are at risk as it can have a negative effect on a developing brain, whereas adults may benefit.
Marijuana in appropriate doses can have a positive effect on PTSD, Agoraphobia, ED, major depression, mania, ADD/ADHD, Autism/Aspergers, night terrors, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, Panic Disorder, PMS, Schizoaffective Disorder, Delirium Tremens, sleep disorders, anxiety disorder, Dysthymic Disorder, Alzheimers, Trichotillomania – and even Schizophrenia. For some cannabis may be useful in ameliorating the symptoms of their condition/disorder, and/or reducing side effects of various medicines. Some may even be able to reduce or eliminate the use of these medicines all together.

That said, one should always be careful when using any kind of drugs/substances. There is always a risk, and to worsen or trigger a mental illness is certainly not desirable, nor a clever move.

I’m sorry. This makes me so angry. How can you even suggest weed is beneficial for people at risk of Schizophrenia? It is NOT.

It is terrible for people who have Schizophrenia as well. It is contraindicated with the meds they take. Weed can cause people with Schizophrenia to have psychotic episodes. It is really false what you are saying. And you are not a physician. Medicine is your “hobby”, right? Who even says that? “Hello, medicine is my hobby so Marijuana in appropriate doses is fab for major depression (??!!), yadda yadda, and Schizophrenia.” Oy.

      • Mermaid says

Wow. Such totally false & misleading information you just wrote. Who knows where you even got it from. Just wow.

And what you wrote is so dangerous too, since so many people self-medicate with illegal substances. Unless a reputable physician specifically prescribes medicinal weed … it’s very very harmful to self-medicate.

Weed is TERRIBLE for depression and is a TRIGGER for Schizophrenia. SMH. But I guess you read “and scientific article” (one, two, three? on Wikipedia maybe?) from somewhere on the web. So, yeah … whatever.

Owen Wilson. Owen Wilson battle with depression had long been public knowledge. However I see no reason why he would pay a personal shopper to do his shopping, instead of just buying everything online like most people do.

  4. Mia444 says

Jim Carrey? I don’t see anything wrong with this. If I had the money, I’d pay someone to do my xmas shopping, too. I hate it! LOL

  5. Shaliza says

I think I’ve heard Ben Stiller and Jim Carrey reference depression before. I think I’ll go with Jim Carrey, though. This blind seems more like him.

    • Stackhouse says

Ben Stiller suffers from Bipolar Disorder Type 1. Jim Carrey also struggles with severe depression, which most likely also stems from the aforementioned disorder. “The crying clown” isn’t that unusual, ufortunately.

  6. birdyellen says

i don’t blame him with the paparazii situation what it is. Hey, if I could afford not to shop myslef I would.

  7. Katmandu says

If this isn’t Owen Wilson, I will eat Santa’s festive red and white hat. And I don’t blame him one tiny bit, as long as his friends get big gaudy celebrity presents, I’m sure they don’t care he was out funning around fretting over a list.

  8. Katmandu says

rewind! “I’m sure they don’t care he was NOT out running around fretting over a list.” Owen Wilson. (would also venture Jim Carrey, but he hasn’t been churning out hits.)

    • FamousPeopleDoStupidThings says

Is Wilson in demand? I’ve never liked the guy. He always plays roles that make him come across as anxious and wimpy. And his penis nose is difficult to watch for any extended period of time.

  9. jeannie says

Jim Carrey? I don’t know if all of his recent films have been hits necessarily, but his battle with depression did make headlines before.

  10. SouthJerseyGirl says

Obviously NOT Dave Chappelle as he doesn’t make one film after another… Jim Carrey maybe?

  11. whitecrow says

I don’t recall Jim Carrey making headlines re his depression so I’ll go with Owen Wilson. Hope he’s not doing dope.

  12. anglonoir says

Everyone keeps saying Jim Carry and Owen Wilson, which I get as far as the clues and the depression — EXCEPT for making one hit film after another. Both of them have had plenty of misses rather than hits, so I don’t see it as being either of them.

  13. DesertGhost says

Owen Wilson. Jim Carrey does go out and shop but I’ve read he isn’t very nice to store clerks.

  14. yepimbored says

Not Jim Carrey. His last movie before Mr. Poppers Penguins was 2 years ago. Sounds like Owen Wilson.

  15. the great chrysanthemum says

I so wish I could do that, the shopper would probably buy better, more thoughtful/appropriate gifts anyway.

  16. Stackhouse says

Owen Wilson. Poor guy, reading about that situation was heartbreaking. He seems okay, hope he’s getting the help he needs.

  17. SayItAintSo says

Saw a pic of jim carey with a new gf and even though the press reported he has been depressed in the past. I am going with Owen too.

  18. timesink says

Owen’s pretty newly married with a new kid. Would he really do this? (plus, I consider him like a little brother as we share the same birthday). But I guess the other love of my life, Jim, hasn’t had many hits lately and his battles with depression are more private. I would do it, too, however if I could.
