[BlindGossip] If you ever ran into this actor, you’d probably be tempted to call him by his most famous character’s name instead of his real name. Don’t. An excited fan made that mistake over the weekend when she ran into the actor. “Oh my god! It’s ‘John Doe’! I’m such a big fan of yours! Can I get a picture with you?”
The actor totally snapped at the woman. “That’s not my f*ing name! That’s the name of a character on a television show! Get your facts straight and get that camera out of my f*ing face!” He then pushed past her, leaving the stunned woman with her mouth agape and her illusions shattered.

Ari Gold much lol
Bingo!
Jeremy Piven keeps repeatedly emphasizing his interviews on the fact that he is not Ari Gold. He says it over and over and over again. So I’m sure you’re right.
LOL, wouldn’t we have ‘mercury’ or ‘poisoning’ as clues, in that case?
Not disagreeing with you, just thinking of the best Pivenesque clues.
agree
Totally sounds like JP but I don’t know if anyone would have his/her “illusions shattered” by the Pivert behaving in this manner.
My other thought was Kelsey G., but I’m not sure anyone would be all that surprised by this attitude coming from him either.
Screech?
Don’t think it is him. I ran into him in a bar a couple of years ago and he was telling everyone he was Screech. He was actually very nice.
Yep, I totally believe that he’s nice, even if he has a douche persona on TV. I just think he does that for hype. Hey, it puts bread on the table…
Matthew Morrison?
This guess sounds pretty good. I mean since this is a BG blind i’m assuming the picture does help and Matthew Morrison does has similar looking hair…just not blonde. :/
He isn’t rude. He shops at the Target where I work and is super polite to the staff. He is accomodating to customers who ask for autographs, pictures etc. I’ve worked box store retail for 4 years and rude people show their true colors without a second thought at these stores.
Kramer….Michael Richards is known to be not fan friendly, correct?
like this guess… kramer’s famous hair is like the guy in this picture!
I think that Michael Richards is a great guess because if I saw him, the first thing out of my mouth would be “Kramer!” without even thinking twice. Most of us think of him as his most famous role; how many people really would know his name or have it pop up first? It’s because the role of Kramer is so iconic.
Also, he is known for going on tears using bad language. So even if it’s not him, it’s a great guess.
I’m thinking that the words ‘snap,’ ‘shattered,’ and ‘agape’ are the clue words but not sure how they fit in.
Great guess, I’m on this bandwagon. We already know that he has the tendency to lose it.
I like this guess too. I’m totally on board for either this or Jeremy Piven.
But is it possible the “John Doe” part is a hint that the fan used the character’s full name? If I saw him, I’d say Kramer, not Cosmo Kramer.
I’m with Kramer for this one! Much like amagod, if I saw him~ my first thought and word would be, “KRAMER”!!!
I could totally see David Duchovny doing this.
Reading it again it says “by his MOST famous character” So it’s someone who’s been on a number of successful shows. Duchovny would still fit with Fox Mulder but throwing some other names out there what about William Shatner or NPH?
David Duchovny is also starring in Californication, which is pretty successful. He’s pretty good in it too. I can also see this blind being about him.
Plus the title uses alienation–and I can’t think of a more apt tie-in to The X-Files than THAT word.
As someone who’s approached NPH on the streets of NYC a time or two (or eight), I can say that he’s never been anything but polite, even when you can tell he’s in a rush.
Who is NPH?
Tawse57- NPH is Neal Patrick Harris
always nice to hear stories like this (stars being pleasant).
Patrick Dempsey aka McDreamy
Hugh Laurie?
I take it back ~ a colleague just told me that he only plays a grump on tv.
matt le blanc – it has been well documented he gets mad when people quote the “how you doin’” line
I’m on board with this guess, he was the first person who came to mind for me. “Joey Tribbiani!”
Trying on both “omg! It’s Tony Soprano!!” and “omg it’s Ross from Friends!” and I like ‘em both equally
I personally don’t blame the guy. I think it’s really rude when people do that to celebrities. I know I would hate it if someone came up to me going all “OMG YOU’RE THAT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, RIGHT?” Actors are people with their own names and jobs like the rest of us.
I somewhat agree. Still, isn’t it a compliment? Calling someone who indeed ONLY has a real name by his/her job description is ludicrous. Calling an actor by his most famous character isn’t saying you DON’T know his name perse. It is kind of silly.
I’m trying to imagine someone doing that, it’s kind of hilarious and weird, although I realize there was a time when people were only known by their job titles (like the middle ages)…
Sandybull, you almost made me pee in my pants in laughter!
No cause to flip out and be ruuuude, but I can understand how irritating that gets. He will eventually give in and accept his fate, though. Leonard Nimoy did!
if it didnt say tv show I would say Harry Potter himself Daniel Radcliffe? Maybe Jack from Lost?
Frasier? George Costanza?
The red hair makes me think of Ron Howard. His famous roles being Opie and then Richie.
I am going to go with Michael C. Hall as my first choice.
My second choice is Steve Carell.
Michael C Hall has said he’ll answer to “Dexter” if someone says it on the street, he doesn’t mind
I feel like Steve Carell would have a bit more humility than that. I would be surprised to find out that he was a creep in real life, but maybe he’s a better actor than I thought.
Not sure why, but I immediately thought of Michael C Hall too.
Richard Dean Anderson – I could see someone calling him “McGyver” and he was in Stargate (alienate)
Good one on alienate~!
James Gandolfini. Hates to be called Tony.
He is also, reportedly, pretty foul mouthed. That would make the f-bomb plausible. Plus, has he done anything else lately? That could be grating on him as well.
He was in “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3″ and “Where the Wild Things Are”. I wouldn’t say his career has had a volume of work, but he gets an occasional job every once in a while. But you’re right, everyone remembers him as Tony.
Remember the story of when he crashed his scooter in NYC? A couple of people ran over to help him and one made the mistake of asking him, “Are you okay Tony?” He started swearing and yelling, “That was a character I played you @%#&!”
Maybe the phrase ‘ran into’ used twice in the blind refers to that accident.
A star, in their choice of roles and by promoting their ‘private’ life encourages audiences to see the ‘real’ self and the ‘reel’ self ( thanks Christine Gledhill) as reflective of one another. The two selves start to blur for audiences. This is the star ‘brand’. James Gandolfini is not a ‘star’. He’s a famous actor. He expects audiences to understand that ‘Tony’ is an entirely fictional construct which has nothing to do with him the private man. And that if they want to approach James Gandolfini the actor who is a total stranger to them then at least show you can differentiate or why should he be polite? He owes you nothing! Enjoy the DVDs and leave the man alone! Err.. If this is him.
Well, since this is BG’s blind, we can use the title and the picture for clues. I think “alienate” is a big clue?
The picture reminds me of Ron Howard “Oppie Cunningham” but which seems uncharacteristic of his public persona.
Who’s been in How to Succeed in Business recently? Title of the blind makes me think of it…
That said, I can totally see this being Kelsey Grammer.
Daniel Radcliffe just finished it. But he’d never say anything like that …
Kramer. The hair in the pic makes me think of him.
I really hate to make this guess, but all signs point to Will Arnett — his most famous role is G.O.B Bluth, a bumbling magician. I can easily see people calling him GOB rather than Will.
Supporting evidence:
“her illusions shattered.” –> Gob: “Not tricks, Michael, illusions.”
“An excited fan made that mistake” –> Gob: “I’ve made a huge mistake.”
“How To Alienate Your Fans” –> Voice actor for the “Missing Link” in Monsters vs. Aliens
Is he married to Amy Pohler? (spelled wrong I think)
I like you interpretation of the clues but oh man, I really don’t want it to be Will!!! He’s so funny! I’m actually glad Running Wilde was cancelled so that he could get another shot with Up All Night (Which is HILARIOUS)
I’m gonna hop on board with the David Duchovney(sp!?) guess.
I think people would still refer to him as Fox Mulder, and he’s gone on to other prominent roles since, so I can see why it would bother him.
The use of the word illusions made me think of him too. I really hope it’s not, because I love him (especially as Gob) and I’d like to believe he has a better sense of humor about his most famous role.
I agree… in interviews he seems to love the Bluths so much.
Nice clues….still, I can’t really picture him as a diva.
you know how sometimes you see the words but don’t read them properly and they kind of jump out at you? i had to go back over this because i could have sworn it said something with a clue to arrested development.
my guess was the fonz though. not that i think henry winkler seems d*
I don’t blame the guy a bit. If you are such a fan you should know his real name. We don’t know where she ran into him or what his day had been like up to that point either. Famous people have bad days too. I agree they should respect and be gracious of their fans since without them they would be nobodys but sh&t
happens. People are in general dumb and annoying – anyone that has worked in the retail or service industry can vouch for that one.
I could see this being Ari Gold for sure. I doubt Duchovny hate being called Hank Moody but I don’t know the guy so who knows.
“People are in general dumb and annoying – anyone that has worked in the retail or service industry can vouch for that one.”
AMEN SISTA!
The thing is, if you work in retail, people come in for the clothes / the goods, but when you’re an actor, YOU are the commodity. You’d think actors would behave if for no better reason than at least to protect their brand (ie, themselves).
NPH is neil patrick harris
can’t think of anyone right now though, dexter and tony from the sopranos are good guesses
I’m gonna say Scott Bakula. “Alienate” for Star Trek Enterprise, and didn’t he do a movie called Master of Illusions?
I’m going with “Jack Bauer” himself. He seems to get a wee bit prickly when he gets to drinking.
That’s a pretty good guess. But, I actually met him and Matthew McConnaughey in a bar one night in Jackson, Mississippi, around 1995 or 1996, when they were in town filming “A Time to Kill.” I have to say that they were two of the coolest, nicest, most down-to-earth guys I have ever met. I ended up having a few drinks and shooting the breeze with them. Of course, this was before McConnaughey became the big star that he is, and before Kiefer became Jack Bauer…LOL!
Third this guess! I thought of him immediately when reading this blind.
Plus Kiefer is the son of two distinguished actors and has known parts other than 24. I could see him being annoyed that a fan only knows him as a TV character name like that “Screech” guy.
I like the Kelsey Grammer guess. He’s such a douche, it fits perfectly.
steve urkel Jaleel White [links require full explanation]
Changing my guess from above- I’m with you doobie!!! I just read on TMZ that Jaleel wants to be known as a versatile actor.
Don Draper/John Hamm
based on the picture (looks like a young boy with red hair) and the temper, im going to guess danny bonaduce.
his real name is pretty recognizable and used all the time, but i could see a partridge family fan seeing him and saying, “look, its little danny partridge!”
He was my first guess too, especially since his name was Danny on the show as well.
Mhmm, I dunno, it’s been decades since “The Partridge Family”. I would say it’s a likely possible with someone from an older generation to recognize him as Danny Partridge, but he’s pretty well known as a D list celebrity.
Danny is definitely my first guess, as well. He’s all roid-ragey and is just notoriously unpredictable like that. I love a lot of the other guesses, but that picture just sort of seals the deal for me.
The wacky picture has to mean something!
There aren’t really many clues here, but I’m going with Jaleel White aka Steve URKEL because there was just a TMZ story posted today where he talked about this very subject.
I think this is Mark Paul Glossier as in Zack Morris.
Nice… He’s always come across as very polite to me, but I could be wrong.
but he’s less Glossy than he used to be (dang autocorrect!)
George Costanza?
Bob from Sesame Street?
Erkel
OMG, I got this. It is William Shatner who is in Vancouver BC for a show tomorrow Oct 19th. Someone called him Captain Kirk, Alienated in the title for Aliens and Shatterd in the description for Shatner! He is known as a crotchity old man prone to drop F-bombs like crazy. Ha!
Call me crazy, but I think this is Simon Pegg. Hear me out: He was in the movie, “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People,” which refers to the BI’s title. The picture on the blind is of a red-head – just like Simon. Finally, it says “Don’t.” That’s the title of the fake trailer he starred in for the Grindhouse movies. He was in a few British TV shows, so that could have been the character that was referenced.
I like your logic, but whats the most famous characters name? Id call him Simon lol
Wil Wheaton. He’s been to a lot of conventions lately, and let’s just say that he’s not always that happy to have fans. He can actually be quite rude.
For some reason this made me think “JACK BAUER!”. No real reason why, and I hope not because Kiefer seems awesome (besides an obvious drinking problem). Those videos of him attacking a Christmas tree and wearing a dress on Letterman are hilarious.
Steve Urkel aka Jaleel White, he was recently complaining about not being treated as a serious actor because of the Urkel ref.
Norm!
I am going with Michael Richards, because what else has he done on tv that people know of, just Kramer, right? Bill Shatner has been on other tv shows and tv commercials. If I saw Michael Richards, I would immediately think Kramer too. And he might probably blow a gasket too.
Wasn’t his name Cosmo? The word ‘agape’ is Greek. I think ‘ran’ or ‘ran into’ is also a clue (used twice).
the kid who plays RJ berger on the mtv show
the hair in the drawing kind of looks like flames…how about Bruce cambell
he was in the evil dead trilogy and his characters’ name was “ASH”
Bruce also made a movie callled “my name is bruce” he was so tired of being called ash
and the show he is on now “burn notice”
I missed the “television show” part, so my guess is probably wrong
Oh my God it’s Dwight Shrute?
Hope not.
It could be anyone! Maybe one more hint?
Hi it’s my first time!
I want to guess John Lithgow.
“John” Doe (John Lithgow), alien-ated & television show (Third Rock from the Sun), most famous character (Dick Solomon)
Would love first time guessing to be right!
Welcome, Vicky! Love, BG
