I’m pretty sure this references Nascar, not track and field. While having many wins,Jeff Gordon is not considered a legend quite yet. The drivers in the American Legends are more the Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Rusty Wallace type. Many of the wrestlers and nascar drivers live and socialize in NC. I’m going with Kyle Petty, Richard’s son. He always comes across as smarmy to me.
I agree this likely references Nascar, but I’m positive this is NOT Kyle Petty. I’m inclined to believe this is Michael Andretti.
Since it’s not letting me edit my previous post, I should have said that I agree this likely references auto racing, not necessarily Nascar. Thus the Andretti guess.
I truly don’t believe this is Kyle Petty. He seems like a real family guy and does so much for children’s charities. But then again, that may not mean a thing.
I just think of Kyle Petty as really wiry. Thin and wiry. I think a pro wrestler would accidentally break him like a twig!
He does do quite a bit with children’s charities but that doesn’t necessarily reflect his fidelity. In the three times I have been in his presence, he was not acting like a pleasant family guy at all. I just got a really FAKE vibe from him whenever the camera was off that I don’t find it a stretch at all. He’s 6’2″ and around 200 lbs, but his ego is even bigger.

Hmmm, I’m liking the Bruce Jenner guess and the pic looks like him. I doubt it’s the 24. I guess it could be DW, but he talks about his wife a lot.

I was thinking Lance Armstrong because in American Legend the L and A are capitalized AL=LA.
But Lance is not married.
I instantly thought of Bruce Jenner, because he is a legend and a professional racer. At first, I didn’t think he would be the type to cheat on his wife… but with how busy work keeps her sometimes and him traveling for appearances, I feel like this guess is not that far fetched.

Not Rusty, unless the wrestler is female. I have it on good authority that when they were still racing, Wallace and Dale Jarrett were the two biggest horndogs in NASCAR.
While I do not want this to be Bruce Jenner, it pinged with me (as a wrestling fan) that Kim Kardashian actually hosted Wrestlemania XXIV in 2008 which may fit with the timeline of this blind item. Oh Brucey.
