[CDAN] What Academy Award winner/nominee actor was asked the other night about a co-star in one of his movies. “I acted with him but I can’t stand being around (the n word).”

Mel Gibson?
Ha!
But I actually think many of his films are devoid of black actors. Coincidence?
Hello? The Lethal Weapon series?
Since then..,
The term in the BI is “acted.” Doesn’t say when.
Robert Downey Jr.
Don Cheadle
or
Terrence Howard
To be fair, everyone seems to hate Howard.
Well, he beat up his wife, so I get those who do.
Hahahha, my first thought. Don’t know if he is Oscar nominated though.
Robert Downey Jr about Jamie Foxx (did the horrid Due Date together)
There was the change up in black actors from Iron Man 1 to 2 based on some pay demands or something. That might be it with RDJ being the actor making the comment.
Did he say this to a reporter or someone less public? If he said it to a reporter, it is likely someone who is already on our radar as out of control or racist, like Mel. I mean, who is stupid enough to think he can say this without alienating people and looking like a bad guy? And really, why is something like this a blind? Shouldn’t this person be forced to face the music?
My guess is a drug addict/alcoholic, someone mentally ill or someone developing Alzheimers. Can you think of any other scenarios?
Someone ignorant – check.
Someone bitter – possibly.
Someone disturbed – most likely.
Maybe Jack Nicholson. One of his last movies was with Morgan Freeman.
Oh, Jackie, Jackie, good ol’ Jackieboy… He seems to have no empathy, he even gave an “I told you so” to the paparazzies when they informed him about Heath Ledger death. Ignorant and disturbed fits his persona, so yes, it is indeed possible.
If Denzel referred to Russell Crowe as a “cracker”, would that be regarded as “drug addict/alcoholic, someone mentally ill or someone developing Alzheimers”? I think it’s the *imprudence* of saying the so-called N-word that makes you say that.
Calling someone a “cracker” does not even come within the same stratosphere as calling someone the n-word. Louis C.K. said it brilliantly when he said that it is literally impossible to hurt a white guy’s feelings. You’re going to call me a cracker? Oh man, take me back to the time when I used to own property and people, yeah, that’s so horrible.
You are kidding, right?
Wait, about which part? I just realized that my summary of Louis CK is not nearly as hilarious as when Louis CK says it. But about the part that the world “cracker” does not have nearly the cultural and historical implications that the N-word does, I’m not kidding at all. I thought that would be pretty obvious. That’s why Louis CK’s joke is so. freaking. funny.
I agree 110%! good on ya and Louie!
I agree! Also seeing that it is a name of a food that people regularly buy and say all the time and there is a whole aisle dedicated to it at a grocery store, then it definitely can’t be in the same atmosphere.
White people can’t be discriminated against either. Ever heard of the “United Whites College Fund”? No, because that would be racist. But when African Americans do it? They are just supporting their own. Whatev.
I feel like this might be an older actor.
Robert Duvall
Yeah, i think that too.
the “n” word? So he does not like working with nerds, has Steve Urkel been in anything lately?
Hardy har har.
Al Pacino, 50 Cent, Righteous Kill
Concur.
Rip Torn? The guy seems to be off his rocker addicted.
The costar would be Will Smith in Men in Black. I can see someone asking what it was like to work with Will. Only problem is that MIB is more than one of his movies.
Best guess. Poor Rip is losing it fast.
Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington. Denzel is supposed to be difficult to work with plus he won an Oscar the year Russell should have won. (in my opinion)
…which doesn’t excuse it if it was him.
The title of this blind is misleading. While the White actor used a derogatory term that happens to be about his race, it seems that Oscar Guy’s problem with his black colleague is personal, rather than emblematic.
Unless he’s a diva, in which case “color” means “attitude”.
Tyler Perry speaking about himself. . ..
Bruce Willis with Denzel Washington in “The Siege” or Brendan Gleeson with Don Cheadle in “The Guard”? Just a couple ideas. Bruce Willis is kind of a wacko
“Wacko”. Hahaha!
That’s the way I’m reading it.
Another thought, Nick Cage/Don Cheadle THE FAMILY MAN.
Quentin Tarantino has an Oscar and three nominations. His frequent use of the word in movie dialog is controversial. Spike Lee said he must think he is an honorary black man. Tarantino has an edgy, street-wise reputation to maintain, so maybe he uses the word in the vernacular. Mel Gibson is the only winner/nominee I can find with documented “conversational” use of the word, in taped rant to Oksana that the way she dressed . . . .
I would maybe agree with Tarantino, but I don’t think he’s been nominated for acting.
Gibson would SO say it, though.
Wowzers to whoever this was! I’m going with the Jack Nickelson guess.
Josh Brolin just did Men in Black. Nick Nolte has worked with Cheadle. Jon Voight….just because.
Joaquin Phoenix and that mockumentary he did.
Another direction: The illustration suggests white and black, but the text does not say the subject actor is white. Maybe the Oscar winner/nominee is black, such as Terrence Howard, and referring to a black co-star, such as as Ludacris or Isaac Hayes, in “Hustle and Flow.”
karlos, I would agree with you but the black white image has me thinking that BG is hinting that it’s a white person. plus, if a black person said that about another black person, it wouldn’t really be all that controversial, right (and wouldn’t merit a blind)? I mean a lot of black artists deliberately re-appropriate and use the n* word as a political statement. But it’s still very taboo for a white fella to use that term. although it could be a class thing. sometimes black people use the term in a derogatory manner as well to refer to those they deem under-class or uncouth. I know I’m going to get a lot of angry replies to this comment. but sometimes the term is used in a derogatory manner by black people (as well as white). still I don’t think that BG would deliberately throw us off that much with the illustration. I’m guessing that it’s an ignorant white fella who thinks that because he’s listened to a couple of black hip-hop artists use the word, that it’s perfectly ok for him to do so… having said that since tarantino has diarrhea mouth and no filter… I’m gonna go with quentin taratino (aka does this man ever shut up and why is his voice so high pitched and grating)…
Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith.
Jackie Chan. We all know the Asians hate black people.
Oh I hope you’re not right about him! I love Jackie Chan! I feel like there’s been so much recent hatred of Jackie lately that he’d be smart enough not to say something terrible like this.
But who knows?
I wasn’t aware that he ever did anything to warrant an Oscar nomination..
sadly the answer too this blind might be ROBERT DE NIRO he was in the film SHOWTIME WITH eddie murphy WHO WAS NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL DURING FILMING. AND YES I NO MR DE NIRO DATES AND LOVES BLACK WOMEN.
Was the n word naughty?
