CDAN – Back in the 90′s this group had a couple of big hits. College radio-ish for the most part but they made some national television appearances. Have not done much lately, but they always remind me of liquor so that is good. Anyway, back when they first started touring they had something in their rider about a mass*ge therapist. It turns out they did not actually want mass*ges, but a good rub and tug. Unfortunately they only could ask for one back then. One of their albums even has a picture of one of their therapists in the liner notes. Later, when they could demand more, they would make sure there was one for every band member each night.

The Gin Blossoms
I could see this.
Everclear, and I’m positive they weren’t the only 90′s band with that tour rider.
This has my vote.
Agreed
Tonic
The Cranberries
The Gin Blossoms
Any of those?
I forgot about Tonic. .. I don’t think the Cranberries they were bigger than ‘college rock’ at the time.
who? don’t know any of these groups.lol
LOL I don’t know about them either. I just googled.
The Cranberries had a female lead- it would be hard to accomplish a “tug” for her.
hootie and the blowfish?
Maybe Brav Van 2000 if only for the liquor clue as their song was called Drinking In LA but were they 90s?
Any male band that’s ever been on tour?
Nailed it!
LOL, seriously! Give us something good and sordid, like lead singer’s mom gave the entire band oral or the drummer is really a woman and had his boobs surgically removed so he could play the drums better. Members of a rock band getting some hetero action on the side? Zzzz…
All of those are good guesses, but this blind made me realize how much I miss 90′s music. Aww, the good ole’ days. lol
Bush
The Smoking Gun
Massage Room Request:

Was the masseuse named Marilyn?
And INXS required Masseuses as well

I think it’s Soundgarden. If you look at the word that was *’d, the two letters on either side are S & G.
I think BG address the issue of words with * in it. I believe they said it was so that the blinds don’t turn up in web searches or something like that.
Soundgarden had more than a couple of hits and not college rock
Yo La Tengo?
Nah, on second thought, Gin Blossoms sounds about right.
Also, gotta say, this post and all these replies are taking me WAY back on a trip to memory lane. I miss the 90s.
Chumbawumba… you mix a whisky drink, you mix a vodka drink. You mix a lager drink, you mix a cider drink.
good answer but they seem more like a one-hit wonder. did they have another hit?
Bush, INXS and Soundgarden all had commercial success. Gin Blossoms had two or three Top 40 hits and then faded away – great guess.
Guster?
Everclear or Tonic are both great guesses given the blind says the band “always makes [the author] think of liquor.”
Better Than Ezra!
Their main song was called “Good!”
I don’t think it’s Better Than Ezra, my friend and I hung out with them during an early tour and they didn’t have a massage therapist with them. They were just excited to be on tour! They were all really nice!
I’ll go for Tonic as well.
First time poster! I will guess Semisonic, who were truly more college and less mainstream, and known for their single, “Closing Time.”
Fun sidenote: I went to a Tonic show in Vegas about 8 years ago, randomly. We saw the guys at a bar post-show and I’m pretty sure we could have had a fun night with them if we had pursued it.
Welcome, Knick! Love, BG
I just met the gin blossoms. Very nice. Fiance got annoyed cuz lead singer was looking at my butt
Black Crowes is Kate Hudson’s ex’s band, right? I’m gonna say them just because of rider/ryder.
I’d go with Everclear, Tonic or Gin Blossoms.
I like the Everclear guess. They have the way-obvious liquor connotation, they haven’t really done anything since the late ’90s and they’re the right genre.
Matchbox 20 (is that the band Rob Thomas was in) they had a big college kid following.
