‘Tis the season when producers begin villainously twirling mustaches as they concoct season-ending cliffhangers that they hope will torture us all summer long. And the execs at one show — an hourlong drama, and a popular one at that! — have come up with a doozie.
According to an insider, the series in question will end its season by revealing that one of its major female characters is pregnant! The news will catch everyone by surprise, no one more so than the mommy and daddy-to-be, who weren’t exactly trying to have a child. The baby boom will also come as a shock for another reason, but to give that away would narrow the field of candidates too much.
However, I’ll leave you with one clue: Unlike Gossip Girl‘s climactic reveal that Georgina was pregnant in its May 2010 season finale, in this case there will be no mystery about the identity of the father.
Probably a Shonda Rhimes show, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, or Off The Map
Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy was my 1st thought. Just last week she had “nap time” with one of the interns. That said, Sam’s ex-wife on Private Practice looks like she’s coming back into the picture as a rival to Addison. Geez…what’s happened in Hollywood? Seems like Betty White is the only one not sporting a baby bump (oooh, there’s SNL skit good for a laugh) and now the production companies are incorporating pregnancy into the shows too.
The actress playing Sam’s ex-wife is actually leaving the show. I imagine they’ll have her character move to NYC with Mya to look after the kid while she goes to school. Or something like that…

This would be such a rip-off of Twilight movie #4… but considering S Meyere ripped off the Vampire Diaries books, wouldn’t be shocking.

All right, just to be different I’m gonna say Bones. Booth broke up with Hannah because she didn’t want to get married and she will find out she’s pregnant and tell Booth. Shock because they broke up because she doesn’t want to settle down and she wants Booth to raise the baby.

I think that the show is Private Practice. And it is Naomi and Sam who are going to have the baby together. The shock is that Sam is supposed to be with Addison, duh.

Last week, the lead human chickadee in “V” (the blonde actress who was also in “Lost) hooked up with a resistance fighter with whom she didn’t get along. Maybe she’s going to end up pregnant and something will happen to her baby because of the alien visitors, which would make the “baby boom” a “shock for another reason” but saying that outright would be too much of a giveaway . . .
Sorry my answer’s so vague. I don’t actually watch “V” and just caught about 10 minutes of it when I was flipping channels one night.

Shocking because they are all so old now.
Can’t be True Blood. Vamps in the Charlaine Harris world (which I think Alan Ball is mostly sticking with) can’t get pregnant nor can they get humans pregnant. Plus it would be such a departure of the books. Also, there would be a question of who is the father because Eric & Sookie are going to get down this season.

It’s Wilson from House. We’re going to discover he is actually a pre-operative female to male transsexual who has been living as a man. While he prefers women he does have a BF on the side who has a fetish for people like him. House will be very upset that Wilson had not shared this with him.

By using the words ‘field of candidates’ and ‘in this case there will be no mystery’ it sounds like House, and I would have thought Cameron. But she’s long gone and apparently is never coming back (unless for the finale, whenever that will be). So – NOT House.

I agree with the Christina and Owen on Grey’s guesses. Would be shocking because I think Christina isnt supposed to be able to have kids after her miscarriage with Burke (if I’m remembering correctly). Additionally, it would complicate things between her and Meredith, who is trying.
Oh, I’m pretty sure that Christina IS able to get pregnant again, after her miscarriage with Burke. Miscarriages happen much more frequently than anyone knows, especially early ones. Weeping, rending of garments, being seen as a fragile wounded thing, and tragic attempts at overcoming ‘infertility’ are the hallmarks of TV and movie soap opera following a miscarriage. (apologies to anyone who has had a RL miscarriage, I am referring to the standard LaLaLand way of dealing).
