WAY too vague. This blind doesn’t mean much if they don’t say WHY the star is faking it. The star doesn’t know HOW to play guitar? The star is a capable guitarist, but is syncing along to a pre-recording because he/she is too drugged up? This could be anybody, for any reason.

john may be a dbag but he is an amazing guitar player. I used to see him play before he was famous, he’s for real in that aspect. He was also a lot nicer before he was famous.
I kinda feel like this is someone that is not “known” for playing guitar and has “taken it up” to try and impress fans and do something new…I know Madonna started doing that a few years ago so I’m going with her.

How about Justin Timberlake? I heard somewhere that he doesn’t really play instruments live. Although, it was a while ago when he was on tour.

Not sure who this is, but wanted to throw in that years and years ago on the Alice Cooper tour in the 70′s, I believe it was Glenn who was so drugged out of it that they unplugged his electric guitar and let him go through the motions (they had hidden musicians taking up the slack). They couldn’t kick him out of the band at the height of their popularity, Glenn was “too popular”.

Keith Richards? I know that several years back a critic claimed that Keith could no longer remember the Stones’ riffs…and Keith also messed his head up (further) when he fell out of the coconut tree a few years back. Keith doesn’t really strike me as totally with it anymore.
Keith is who came to mind when I read this blind. The Stones have so many people playing with them now. Tons of backup singers, guitar players and even another drummer! I wonder if all of them are faking lol.
I think it’s Eddie Van Galen. I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that he turns his back to the audience cuz he didn’t want anyone stealing his techniques.

I saw him on the HBO “playing” at Madison Square Garden. I play guitar and I could clearly see he wasn’t really playing.
