“The Black Dog Runs At Night” is the name of a song on the soundtrack for David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” (the lyrics are that same phrase repeated over and over – my guess is this C-list-actress-ex-musician a) probably had this song stuck in her head (I get it in mine all the time, it’s a damned fine tune) and b) who has cool taste in 1990s cinema. I wonder if that pegs her as a Twin Peaks generation age-wise, though? At least late 20s+

Twin Peaks is awesome! Weird, yes, and the latter part of Season 2 was bad, but still it and the movie were incredible. David Lynch isn’t for everybody, obviously.
torturing was a bad choice of words, although i was forced to watch twin peaks a few weeks ago and it moved so slowly that i thought i was gonna cry. the internet has ruined my attention span. in general, i like lynch, i just missed the boat on twin peaks.

Honestly, the number of times I’ve run around singing much weirder stuff than this when I’ve been hammered? Probably goes up into the hundreds by this stage. At least she wasn’t singing “99 Luft Balloons” – people might have thought she was singing in tongues!

I don’t even like or agree with my own guess… The way this is written, Zooey Deschanel comes to mind: 1) “buddy” (the elf), and 2) the actress started as a singer. The Twin Peaks “black dog” reference makes it more interesting because according to IMDB, Zooey’s mother, Mary Jo Deschanel, played Lara Flynn Boyle’s mother on Twin Peaks – I loved that show! If you promise the authorities or your manager “never to do it again” it doesn’t seem like you are the kind of person who is known to be in this type of situation on a regular basis, or ever. Right?

The only thing I’m not sure about is whether she was a singer first. Her bio says her first love is music but I’m not sure if she released any songs before she started acting.
She didn’t do any professional singing until after she had established herself as an actress. But out of all the guesses, she’s the only one I can actually picture doing this. Lol I guess it’s because she always plays those quirky characters

I thought of Mandy Moore the minute I read ‘this C list actress – who started out as a singer’. Since I am close in age to her I remember when she first came out and I am sometimes surprised that almost all she does now is act (especially since her voice is not half bad–but I’m sure acting pays more, lol). Another reason I think it’s her is the BI leaves me with the impression that this woman’s activities that night were out of character for her, and that seems to fit Mandy.

I can understand why people would guess Mandy Moore, but I don’t think that the clue of her starting off as a singer applies. The way this is phrased in the blind implies to me that she no longer sings, but she just had new music out last year. She has made tons of music over the years… she is not as mainstream as she was in her “Candy” days, but she is still a musician.
