CDAN – Despite not having the hits he once did, this male singer still plays big arenas and is permanently on the A list. Anyway, our singer read a book he really liked and invited the author to come hang out for a weekend. The author told the singer that he had a teenage son who was a musician and also a big fan of the singer. The singer said to bring the son along. So, off they went. Over the weekend, the singer took the son around and brought him to a concert, took him backstage, introduced him to the members of the band and even let the teenager play with the band during a show. Totally made every dream of this kid come true.

What a cool guy! I hope it’s Mick Jagger.
Only if Mick could get a sexual favor, I’m afraid.
i love this.
i mean i love amagod’s thing, not that it might be mick. he’s too selfish. but i agree, mardy – whoever it is, he’s really great.
agree – Mick wouldn’t do anything without being paid for it. What a great dude whoever it is.
Brett Michaels…even though i cant stand him
Agree on both counts…the only part that’s throwing me off is the book reading. I struggle to picture him reading anything.
Agree
Bruce Springsteen?
I’d believe this one too
That’s exactly who I thought of.
Springsteen is more than just a singer.
I think Bruce S. is the hands down favorite for this blind.
Although this is something that Bruce would totally do, if this is a “recent” post then it can’t be the Boss because he hasn’t been on tour since last year. I’d know: I’ve been on the lookout for tix for months!
I do like the Bret Michaels guess – he’s kind of an idiot and a total famew* but he seems like a very sweet guy who loves his fans. Gotta agree though, the only thing I can picture him reading is a book on Motorcross or Pittsburgh sports stats.
I think my vote is for Billy Joel.
Paul McCartney?
First time poster, longtime reader
Thanks for tip-toeing over here, Tulip! Love, BG
Macca’s kind of a jerk. I seriously doubt it was him.
I’m 18 and I adore adore adore adore adore Billy Joel! Most of my friends do too, although not to the extent I do
so I hope this is BJ! Ahh first time poster, longtime looker at this site!
Welcome, Shannon! Love, BG
Billy Joel?
What kind of teenager likes Billy Joel?
Hey, lay off Billy Joel
Hahaha sorry! I just happen to live right near him and see him all the time, so to me all the mystery is gone. Yay Long Island, sucking the fun out of everything!
I gotta believe Billy Joel is a nice guy. Please tell me that he is.
Well he’s an excellent tipper.
Being from the tristate area, I can attest that a LOT of teenagers like Billy Joel. I’m in my mid-20s and I’m only mildly fond of his music, but a lot of my friends have been die-hard fans of his since middle school. I agree though, distance makes the mystery more fun!
Ronie dio did things like that all the time . If he were alive it would be my first guess . Brett micheals is also a verry kind and giveing soul . He loves children . He is verry down to earth and would do that for a teenager .
But is he on the A list?
I don’t want to live in a world where Dio isn’t A-list.
Ah, since I am listening to Black Sabbath right this second(Black Sabbath Live at Hammersmith Odeon-a 15 minute version of Heaven and Hell)…I agree.
I was referring to Brett Michaels, not late and great Ronnie James Dio.
Brett Michaels seems like a nice, down to earth guy. But I don’t think “Brett Michaels” and “read a book” usually go together.
I do like the Tom Petty guess.
I’m gonna go with Tom Petty
i like this guess, he’s on tour right now as well
I agree, if for no other reason than I’ve always loved Petty, and I’d love to kick it with him backstage.
Neil Young would be a close second.
Awesome BI. Wish more stars were like this.
Gotta be Springstein
Bono did this at lest once before with a favorite author. Very likely could have done it again.
I am gonna go with Neil Young, who still packs the house at large venues and puts on an absolutely amazing show. He is permanently A-list to be sure, and a stand up guy if you ask me.
Although, I do like the Tom Petty guess(who is also bloody great live).
Elton John does this frequently for me and several of my friends.
The ghost of Oscar Wilde does it for me too.
Morrissey? Is that you?
ha!
alas, johnny marr, we never knew ye.
no wonder your name is anonymous – LOL in a nice way!
How about Marc Anthony and Cesar Millan’s son? Cesar just came out with a new book, and did a signing in Miami where MA spends lots of time and plays shows.
Ew. Is Marc Anthony considered A-list? Really? *shudders*
Rick Springfield?
I’ll go with your guess too, my first thought…
Rod Stewart
Steven Tyler?
permanent = Permanent Vacation, one of Aerosmith’s albums
dreams come true – “dream until your dreams come true” lyrics to song Dream On
Sounds like this could be Jon Bon Jovi
First time poster…long time reader!!!
Billie Joe Armstrong – Green Day
Agree. He seems to be a really cool guy
I say Elton!
Hi there! First time responder – Tom Petty. His guitar player did the very same thing for a kid who was a fan a couple of months ago.
Welcome, Stubborn. Do you have a link to back up your guess? Love, BG
Hi BG and Stubborn – here is the link to back up the reference. I thought it was a cool story too…
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129364252
I am a HUGE Tom Petty fan and hadn’t heard this story. Thanks for the link. I figured Mike was a good guy.
And yes, I am also on the TP bandwagon for this guess.
my first guess was rick springfield..and i still feel like it def could be him…but how about hall & oates? “you make my dreams come true”????
bon jovi?
Bryan Adams?
don’t know why but he popped into my head while reading it too
This is what made me think of him: “Despite not having the hits he once did, this male singer still plays big arenas and is permanently on the A list”
His new songs are DEFINITELY not like the hits “Heaven” or “Everything I do” but he’s really busy and touring all over the world. Plus he has a band that plays with him, so it would fit the kid playing with the band too.
Ozzie?
don’t have a guess but the subject of this blind item is awesome! how kind to do this for the author’s son. so didn’t have to do anything but he did!
Tom Petty is still touring – we saw him at MSG a few months ago (can you even get a bigger venue than that?), it was sold out, and he was VERY nice.
I can’t believe that no one’s posted Mayer yet! He was tossed around as the A lister that donated to BG’s cause a few months ago. BG also promised to post something positive about him. Well done, John!
Sting was the first person who came to mind for me.
Or it could be John Mayer. I’d hesitate to call him “permanent A-list,” but maybe it’s an exaggeration that’s part of the “post nice stuff about me” clause of his anon charity donation.
I agree that this could be John Mayer. But the blind seems to indicate someone who has been around for a while. I like the Springsteen guess the most.
BUT – the person in question is a singer. . . not a songwriter, not a guitar player.
I’m leaning towards Bono or someone else who sings only and is not known for playing an instrument, as well.
*Of course, maybe it is just worded that way to throw people off.
I’m on the Sting train. I mean, I know he PLAYS the lute, but he’s not really known for his luting. Of course, he is known for his tantric sex, but they don’t mention that multi-hyphenate…
Keith Urban? There was a solved blind item not long ago about how he bought an expensive pedal for a kid who happened to be in the same music shop as he was. He is known to be great with his fans. I was lucky enough to be able to see him at a meet & greet a few years ago and he was very down to earth- posed for multiple pictures, signed some cd’s, talked to me about my kids (and even said how much he loves my daughter’s name- and no, it’s NOT “Sunday” or “Rose”.) People connected to St. Jude have also said he is very giving, especially of his time.
I’m going with Bono. U2 have been touring, too.
The whole story sounds like it’s about a solo act, not a band (although solo acts have bands, of course, but you get the idea).
Gene Simmons, but it was him, it’ll be on his show.
Prince? Although he seems too arrogant for that.
Bob Dylan? The kid in the picture has hair that kind of reminds me of Dylan’s….
Robert Plant – touring right now with The Band of Joy…
Like Serena, I am also thinking it’s Prince. I truly think he’s a genuinely nice man although he doesn’t always come across that way in the media.
I say Alice Cooper. He seems to be pretty cool and I know there are kids today that are fans.
My first thought was Dave Matthews but I’m kind of leaning towards Carlos Santana. This is something they’d both do but Carlos is more of an A lister-been around a while kind of band.
JON BONJOVI that seems like something he would do and he fits the blind some what.
I agree with the Jon Bon Jovi guess
