It is generally 35-50k to fulfill her rider, but we should always plan at the higher end and hope that it’s less.
The fees associated with using _________ are as follows (please note that all numbers listed are estimates):
$7,500-12,500 for stylist fee and wardrobe budget (based in LA)
$7,500 – 12,500 for hair, makeup, nails fee, agency fees, and travel day fees (Makeup based in NYC, Nails based in NYC and LA)
$15-25,000 for travel rider, but could be more or less based on what cities __________ and the members of her entourage are traveling from and returning to. It is generally required to book flights for _____________ through her travel agent so her commerical (sic) plane requirements are met.
Entourage Flight Travel Includes:
-2 first class tickets for ________**
-1 Business class ticket for __________’s assistant
-1 Business class ticket for stylist
-1 Economy ticket for stylist assistant
-1 Business class ticket for hair stylist
-1 Business class ticket for makeup artist
-1 Economy class ticket for security (if integration is occurring somewhere other than NY or LA)
-1 Economy class ticket for manicurist (if integration is occurring somewhere other than NY or LA)
**If this planned activation happens in the Gulf and it is required for her to be back on set the next morning, we may be required to book a private charter on the return.
Other fees:
-Hotel fees: ___________ requires a suite at a 5 star hotel (specific hotels based on market), and single rooms for her entourage at the same property.
-Car Service: requires 2-3 SUV’s for all members of team
-Greeter Service at Airport
-Security fee
-Per diem: $150 per day, per person. I have also included a list of snacks and requirements for her dressing room/trailer.

It sounds a s if Gulf is ‘The Persian Gulf’. Is someone shooting shows/movies/interviews in Dubai or Abu Dhabi? It sounds like ‘Sex in the City II’ crew, but I don’t think any of those women were Academy Award nominees or winners.

Hmm, looking over the list of former nominees who might be more likely to be called B List, I’m coming up with Laura Linney, Naomi Watts, Samantha Morton, Diane Lane, Joan Allen, and Emily Watson. Not sure which among did mostly TV before movie roles.
Looking over credits, Linney came to prominence through “Tales of the City,” so she could fit. Watts and Morton did TV in Australia and Britain, respectively. Lane’s been acting since she was almost a kid. Allen and Watson pretty much started out in movies.

Meh. Who really cares? This is standard operating procedure for actors and actresses. Do you really think they are going to shell out to pay all of these people out of their own pockets? That’s the way it goes: the people who actually have the money to pay expect to get everything for free.
I agree. It’s certainly obscene by normal people standards (and I still don’t like it) but I’d like to know how this compares to typical riders that other actresses of the same caliber use. I have a feeling most everyone has something similar or maybe even more extravagant.

This is actually very similar to the rider I have with the women I go out with. If by similar you consider Cheetos, whipped cream, edible underwear, a spoon and a pair of handcuffs the same. The riding crop is entirely optional. Appreciated, but optional.

Oh, please. Are we going to discuss contract riders now? What a can of worms…
1) Ask any performer who has had to travel a lot to work and most of them will tell you stories of taxing, embarrassing or inappropriate situations they had to endure because back then they didn’t know better and didn’t demand certain things they should have on their contracts.
2) You can’t put a price on other people’s work, and you get what you pay for. I am not familiar with show business prices, but none of that sounds unreasonable to me if it is a popular and respected star.
3) She seems to be taking a pretty indispensable entourage, only professionals who will make her look the best she possibly can. If the star didn’t have her own, the contracting party would have to provide such staff anyway, at a cost. The star is taking her own staff, who already know how to work on her looks specifically. That always translates into better results. They are experts. Experts on Ms. Star.
I don’t see any ridiculous demands such as 500 fresh towels, 50 bottles of some brand-specific wine or beer or special accommodations for her poodle. Go have a look at riders in rock stars’ contracts and you will see how ridiculous that game can get. I think this actress knows what she is doing.
I’m with you St. Nick! This one is a yawner. In fact, I kept re-reading it thinking that I missed some key stipulation…like expecting a 24-karat gold toilet seat or that the celeb wanted to be carried everywhere by bodyguards a la Anna Wintour. I don’t see one item in this contract that makes it even worth trying to figure out.
I have to agree. This doesn’t sound like all that much. I’ve heard of people traveling with 30 people who all had to be given first-class tickets before. It’s also a relatively low per diem amount.
Seriously! She isn’t requiring someone to bring all white furniture into her room and fill it with scented 12 dozen white lillies, install a dimmer and stock pink light bulbs.

you are obviously a lawyer/agent trolling to defend a client/s. let me say this: in normal world, these demands are ridiculous. asking for a vegetarian meal is ok. asking for diet Coke if you are on a diet is ok. asking for this stuff is nuts and you know it.
ps- this is a black actress. “back in the day” is the tip off. also, let’s be real here, no one travels with such entourages like black actors/actresses.
for a rock band, you can understand it, if they have backup singers and roadies and crew. but if you are an actor, you might bring a friend along or a sig other.
i can attest that black actors and actresses (and singers and rappers) travel heavy with “friends” who suck them and their producers dry.
Hollywood is not the normal world and making movies/tv is not a normal job any way you slice it. I have to agree with Saint Nick on this one. Go through the grueling rigors of making a movie and then you can talk. And as for Barry, I hope you someone is teaching you what racism is and how to avoid displaying it in the future because saying “let’s be real here, no one travels with such entourages like black actors/actresses” is beyond ignorant and wildly untrue. Kate Hudson? She was filming Skeleton Key in New Orleans and that might have referred to an evacuation during any of the several hurricanes that hit the gulf in 2005. She was nominated for Almost Famous and did some tv awhile back (Party of Five). Plus as a child of celebs I can picture her having quite the demands, being used to it and all.
Skeleton Key was already made when Katrina hit. Its not Kate Hudson. Mira Sorveno, or Juliette Lewis
There were several other storms that hit the gulf in 04 and 05. I wasn’t specifically citing Katrina.
Agree with some of the above comments about these demands not being horrific. Anyone who has seen JLo or Mariah’s riders knows what sheer audacity is!
Obvs this is someone who does have quite a sense of self importance. Agreed that it is not as obscene as other riders, it’s still excessive.
You really can’t fly first, with just your assistant, and use local professional hair and makeup people? Your stylist can’t prep your wardrobe in advance?

I think the same about sports. I like sports, but I can’t stand how much money is spent on sports events, especially all the money that athletes get paid, while teachers and nurses make a pittance. But it’s all about market, supply and demand. People are willing to pay for entertainment, to get off their daily worries and frustrations. People aren’t willing to pay for economic redevelopment in Eastern bloc countries.

I like this guess, too. The majority of people are related to looking good (manicurist, hair, stylist, etc). So, why isn’t there a personal chef and a trainer? It would make sense not to bill for the trainer’s time and room if the trainer is a “friend” – although I’m sure that happens, too.

As a former actress I know that the SAG rules allowed for talent to always be flown first class. The rider was only allowing this actress company (or an empty space preferred next to them but NOT guaranteed since I was also a flight attendant thoughy not at the same time). Not sure if that is still the case however. Still have no idea who this coulb be though. LOVE BG!
