CDAN – This foreign born Golden Globe nominee/winner is a C+/B- list actress who primarily does movies but is better known for being on a show loved by critics but which could never find an audience. Anyway, our actress is not the best customer at restaurants. Over the Christmas holidays our actress was at a restaurant with a party of 8 and decided to show the table what you could do if you were a star. She went to find her waitress and asked the waitress to find the biggest vegetable in the kitchen, bring it to the table and say, “Here you go ____, is this what you were talking about?” The waitress found a leek, brought it out to the table and said her lines. As she was leaving, our actress said, “You see? That’s the kind of thing I can do because I’m _______.” Throughout the night our actress made other staff do various tasks to laughter [sic] from the table. When they left, the table didn’t even tip.

Ana Friel? Hope not, i really liked her as Chuck on Pushing Daisies.
I can’t see it being Friel; she’s surely not that famous. Although the pic does seem to nod to ‘Pushing Daisies’ and she fits some of the clues. I’d argue she’s more TV than Film though.
Toni Collette?
Toni’s gotten tons of awards, so not straying toward C list, and the item implies the show was cancelled. US of Tara is still on and nobody is that invested in Cable TV ratings. It would seem to be a show on a major network.
i like Ana Friel from “Pushing Daisies” but there are also Toni Colette in “states of tara”
Minnie Driver
My first thought was Minnie Driver too – British, critics loved The Riches but canceled after 2nd season, nominated for Golden Globe in 2008, known to be a little wacky. It’s her!
I wouldn’t say she’s “mostly known” for The Riches.
Helen Mirren? Maybe she is A list though, she did those detective shows on PBS….
or Lady Judi Dench?
Its gotta be betty white
mirren is as A list as can be, and she MUST have better sense of humor than this person. talk about unfunny. is a giant vegetable a masturbation reference? i dont get it. that being said, any foregin actresses on arrested development?
Portia di Rossi- arrested development
And she is from Australia!
Thats exactly what I thought too, but I hope not because I’d assume she would have been with Ellen and I’m not sure if that type of behavior is something Ellen could stand.
That last line “You see? That’s the kind of thing I can do…” sounds like something her character in Arrested might have said though.
exactly what i was thinking!!
* Foreign born – check
* C+/B- actress – check
* Critically acclaimed tv show that couldn’t find an audience – check.
Portia sounds good to me.
“primarily does movies” uh, NOT check. She does TV almost exclusively (AD and Ally McBoring).
My thoughts too!
Portia isn’t known primarily for movies though.
I say it’s Anna.
This person should be outed for being a jag.
“Someone who is nice to you and rude the waiter is not a nice person.” -Dave Barry
and “someone who is nice to the waitress but rude you is a nice person?” i know it’s a silly question but i don’t know Dave Barry
Dave Barry is/was a syndicated columnist and wrote more of a humor column. Google and Wikipedia are your best friends.
I don’t think the point is that you can turn the statement around. It’s just a saying. Basically, the point is that a truly nice person is going to be nice to a waitress (an anonymous, powerless persona to whom many are impolite). Someone may be nice to others not because they’re necessarily a truly nice person (maybe they have to be, maybe they consider you “worthy”). However, someone who is nice even to those people they don’t have to be nice to are truly nice person.
Um…really? I guess Josie explained it best- someone who is truly nice and humble is nice to everyone regardless of their station in life and doesn’t look at others a “beneath” them.
Plum is dumb.
no,I’m french in France so i don’t know Dave Barry and why he’s so interesting to be quoted and i follows what you said: you’re not nice with me !!! you’re a bad girl!!and in another side,it’s perfect for the site,no need angelic people!
I was just attributing the quote. If it had been my words or another posters would they have had less meaning? That’s the point of the quote actually.
I’m tired of this. Let’s go back to trying to figure out which poster is John Mayer.
Being from another country is not an excuse to annoy posters with pedestrian questions. I’m sure they have Google in France.
I vote Neve Campbell here.
That was kinda rude dude. There are a lot of Europeans on this site and Dave Barry is not internationaly known. She was just asking a question. Plum – Tu t’en fou de ce connard. Je t’embrasse.
Real classy, Jojo.
I think the point being that it is indicative of a person’s character the difference between how they treat people who they think can be of use to them in some way versus how they treat people from whom they don’t think they have anything to gain.
…rude TO the waitress,” is what it should say, for those of us who were confused.
I think that is totally true. That s such an annoying thing when you are eating out and your companion is rude to the waiter/waitress. That behaviour means ‘super-douche’ to me.
M is for Minnie Driver… critically acclaimed show… Tons of movies in the 90′s… Minnie Driver for 300 please!!!
what critically acclaimed show was she on?
That Riches show.
I like this guess. She was definitely known better for movies (Portia is not). Plus, I’ve heard she’s a complete snot.
Crap. Just saw “better known for … show”. Minnie Driver is better known for her movie(s) – so I think she’s out. I really would have been happy with it being her, though.
Will and Grace.
Whichever actress it is, I hope she is reading this because I want her to know that she is a scumbag.
Perhaps Keri Russell? She starred in ‘Felicity’ and was the star of that waitress movie.
Also: Keri Russell won a Golden Globe for ‘Felicity.’ And the name of the waitress movie was ‘Waitress.’
Keri Russell is American. BI notes this is a foreign born actress.
Keri Russell is a lovely, down-to-earth person. Whoever this scumbag is, she is not American!
Anna Paquin?
Canadian… in tons of movies/in true blood & the pic reminded me of her true blood character. Not sure if she is a GG nominee/winner.
She was nominated this year for True Blood. However, she is also an Oscar winner from when she was a kid. Don’t know if that would necessarily have been mentioned in the blind, but thought I’d throw it out there.
Was Claire Danes nominated for a GG? The show I am thinking of is My So Called Life.
Also an American actress, so it’s not her.
I thought of her too because so many critics loved “My So Called Life” until I looked it up and found out she was born in NYC.
For some reason, the line party of 8 made me think of that show Party of Five and Neve Campbell. It’s what she’s best known for even though she’s been in TONS of movies, she’s foreign born, and she’s won a Golden Globe (just not this year)…. plus she has to be somewhere on the C list by now since she hasn’t really done anything in a while. I’m probably way off though lol.
I think yours is the best guess yet. It gets my vote.
but it all fits!
Like it! Going with it
I liked this guess also until I re-read the blind and it says – better known for being on a show loved by critics but which could never find an audience. Party of 5 was on for 6 season(? +/-). It seemed to have found an audience with that many seasons under it’s belt.
That’s a good guess but whoever reported the blind did a lot of research to come up with that. It would have to be obvious.
I don’t think Neve Campbell has that kind of star power.
PO5 was quite popular for several years.
She is equally or more well-known for movies.
I don’t have a guess but that’s just bizarre. What a freak.
Charlize Theron was on Arrested Development, right? I don’t know if she has C+ status though.
she’s definitely A-list, in no way is she better known for AD or any other TV show, and seems like a genuinely good person.
Tracey Ullman?
That was who I thought of, but she has always been more a TV actress than movies. She currently has a big TV show going in the UK.
I almost think of TU exclusively for TV and her original show lasted for quite a while.
Staff deserved it for treating these PoSs like they are special.
You think they had a choice? If they didn’t, the star would complain, and the staff member(s) in question would likely be fired.
I’ll add that these days a restaurants’ success (may) rely solely on their celeb clientele and their continued appearances
example, Frank Sinatra was known for screaming cuss words at his servers across the room at Spago, but they (waiter/waitresses) still fought over getting his table because he was a big tipper
staff is replaceable, stars could close you down, especially a star with real power
why is “laughter” followed by (sic)?? Am I missing something or could this be a clue?
Whoever it is, I hope their name becomes public and they are scorned for their snobbish, childish behavior. You, madam, will never be a true star, only a cheap b*!
Don’t you ever mess with the person serving your food!
true that
I’m going with Neve Campbell…’party of 8′ references ‘Party of Five’…
Party of Five was TV Guide’s “The Best Show on TV You’re not Watching” in 1994 or 1995…loved by critics.
