BlindGossip – Which geeky actor from a popular TV show tried to pull a fast one on an established retailer? Several months ago, he set his sites on a particular item and asked the retailer if he could have it. They told him that although they would not simply gift it to him, they were willing to entertain a reasonable offer for it. He never made an offer. A few months later, he came back, wanting the same item again. This time, he fired off an angry email, claiming that the item was stolen from him. Perhaps he theorized that they would believe him and simply hand the item over to him?
The company took his claim seriously and began an investigation of the provenance of the item. However, when they asked him for any kind of legitimate proof that it was his, he realized that he was caught in a lie and quickly backed off. Then, instead of blowing the dust off his wallet and buying it, he began whining very publicly about it. We don’t know if he will get sued for making defamatory statements, but his false accusations against the retailer – and subsequent public whining and playing the victim to gain sympathy – just make him look like a big jerk.
Someone from Big Bang Theory?
Matthew Gray Gubler?
No way. He’s hilarious and funny in real life – even made a fan video about stealing stuff from the set of the show (and desks of the crew) because it was “in his contract” that he could have anything. Not the type to whine and cry over something.
Besides, he’s one of the Chipmunks! Surely there would have been a chipmunk clue if this had been him
)
Good!! I’m glad it’s not him. I actually don’t know that much about him. I love Criminal Minds, and that last sentence reminded me of the profiles they do on that show.
Jim Parsons
“geeky” and “theorized”. Someone from The Big Bang Theory.
sounds like my exbf
I’m throwing in a guess, the guy from numbers David Krumholtz. Often his character is described as a brilliant theoretician.
Also, that guy from Chuck. Haha, anything to keep the heat from The Big Bang Theory Cast, I love that show.
Jorge Garcia — I could see him maybe doing this with some kind of Lost prop at a comic book shop???
It would be SOOOOO helpful if there was a little more of a hint about the item: animal, mineral, vegetable?
How about Rainn Wilson from The Office?
Like this guess
unfortunately, i can kind of see it being him
my husband worked with Rainn years ago and we got to know him pretty well and he was a REALLY decent guy. generous and not a phony at all.
i was thinking rainn too
Dying to know what it was he wanted so badly but was too cheap to spring for.
screech?
He couldn’t afford to buy anything even if he wanted to – there would be no “dusting off” his wallet. He probably pawned his wallet long ago!
However, the actor’s first name is Dustin. Dustin=dusty? Maybe? Just a thought.
Oooh, good catch!
this sounds like something that he would do….
Screech is my first guess too. He was supposed to do his standup show in my town last month and the club canceled him because at the last minute he demanded more money.
He gets my vote too.
it sounds like something Screech would do…real douchey-like, remember when he wanted people to buy his tshirts to “save” his house
I’m guessing that this is some kind of collectible or one of a kind item, because it’s not like you can go into any department store and say, “Hey- that’s my stolen coat you are selling!”
Is anyone on Big Bang Theory known for collecting anything? Or complaining about having been robbed?
According to wikipedia (FWIW), Jim Parsons plays piano and Johnny Galecki plays cello. A musical instrument? At a loss…
Zachary Levi wanting a PS3 Slim?
Frankie muniz from Malcolm in the Middle
“… instead of blowing the dust off his wallet…he began whining…”
dusty = Dustin Diamond
whining = Screech
Great catches. =]
Got my vote.
This sounds to me like a comic book. High-value collectibles have easily-traceable ownership trails.
The reason I don’t think it was any of his character’s memorabilia is that his having owned or possessed the item would be its entire value.
Who collects comics, played a geek on t.v., and is a douchebag?
Big Bang Theory makes sense…but I’m thinking Jason Segel…
Though it sounds like something he might do in real life, his character on his show isn’t a geek. A bit dorky, perhaps, but certainly not a pocket-protector type geek.
I’m going to go with Urkel.
Douchebag Zack Braff
I thought of Rainn Wilson at first too but there are so many hints pointing to someone from Big Bang Theory…
i can’t see rainn wilson doing this at all.
totally screech, anytime he makes news its for being an asshole.
Took another look at this one, and it does look like it could be someone from Big Bang. But it says one of the actors, not “star”, so how about Simon Helberg?
The “dusty” comment might be pointing to his part in Dr. Horrible as “Moist”.
“playing the victim to gain sympathy” – he was in a movie called “The Pity Card” (as in he played the pity card)
