Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix?

PSH is the only one of the nominees who isn’t married to his significant other, so that would explain “significant other” instead of “wife” or “spouse”.

Otherwise, both Hugh Jackman and Bradley Cooper are rumored to be gay; could it be an unnamed boyfriend?

Both of the answers above some plausible to me. I am thinking Jackman and cooper or Cooper and Clooney.
